This one should suffice (replaced my "Block II" clone upper).  Did the mock up this morning.  The upper will eventually get some paint.

Nice.

Love the MK4s. Been thinking about swapping the DD M4A1 RIS II on my Block II for a MK4 as well.

Yep.  I should have known better than building another Block II upper (I got rid of my first one because of the unnecessary weight).  The difference in balance between the RIS II FSP and the Mk4 (especially with the shaved FSB) is pretty remarkable.

At least with this upper, I just swapped out the rail instead of selling the whole thing.

I thought the same with the KAC URX 3 vs RIS II.

Finally got my Noveske 12.5" out in its Mini Recce configuration. When I envisioned this gun it was as a short/urban SPR. But this where it fits in. What a bunch of great sticks in here!

The PA 1-6 is nearly as fast on close targets as  my Aimpoint, and the 6x is very nice to reach out a bit with. This day I could only get to about 100 yds. For the money, I think the PA 1-6 scope is impossible to beat. I tried a Bushnell PCL recently on a 10.5 (micro recce?) and was underwhelmed. I like the Minimalist stock, but it may not be the right one for this purpose. It is only ok on a sandbag.

Anyone have good loads they have worked up for a Crusader barrel? I ran an OCW with  Hornady 75s and Varget the other day with inconclusive and boring results. I had hoped to find a good load on this slippery bullet to get the most out of the shorter barrel. Perhaps it is not to be!

ENOUGH WORDS!!

More Scope Than Barrel! The OCW setup.

Ive been watching the thread for awhile now and decided I wanted to go this direction with my scar. It fits as a mini recce perfectly other than not being an ar. I think i'm going to switch back to a elcan on it though

Heres an ar in case the mini recce police get upset.

SWEET What barrel is that beast rocking? I loved my TR24, is it cross-hairs or triangle?
Link Posted: 4/20/2015 12:47:15 PM EST

OneRanger,

thanks!  TR24 has a triangle reticle...I love the triangle!

the barrel is a 11.5 inch BCM mid-profile/weight 1/8 twist.
I am very pleased with the accuracy...~ 1.5 MOA @ 200 yards with walmart federal .223's.

I am hoping the suppressor doesn't negatively effect grouping...i'll find out shortly...

HA!  it's my 12.5, but I am now motivated.  All I have to do is put the damn handguard on LOL

I have been stewing over this can, and then I diverted to another KISS build.  I am done, I am putting the handguard on.

I am loading 50-30 round mags for Saturday morning, and that 13.7 is going with me, I swear.  I am going to put 1000 rounds through this can on Sat, with mere Lucas oil on the threads, and rifles, to see if Ryan is right about switching to FireClean

F...M ...L...

I loaded up four rifles, cleaned and lubed, blah, blah, blah  I am going shooting
...that Infidel in the bane of my existence, I swear.  I damn near took a pipe wrench to the nut.

Speaking of shooting, I'm heading to the range today and want to come up with a Mini Recce Challenge...Any ideas?

Thinking 300 yd/m smallest group, and a standing 100 yd/m 5 shot group under a certain amount of timeStill excited to see this beast of yours Alaska

Great idea!

I've always seen these as a very practical rifles. Ill suggest this to keep the discussion going, and because I won't have any trigger time this weekend.

Mini Recce Challenge
Shoot till you make your hits. The clock runs until all targets are fully engaged.

Start time.
Make 5 hits on 6 inch target off hand at 50 yd/m. 1x / lowest scope zoom.
Make 5 hits on 6 inch target at 200 yd/m from prone (bench if its all you can do). NO BAGS, BIPODs or RESTS. Any scope power.
Make 5 hits on 6 inch target at 300 yd/m from prone (bench if you must) with FRONT REST ONLY. No rear bags. (Dont have 300 yards? Push out as far as you can and put 5 hits on 2 moa target) Any scope power.
Stop time.

A good gun will help here, but some shooting skill will also be needed.

I emailed Bill G and asked where to buy a wrench, they don't have them on the site.  He said to call and get one sent.  Sure is excellent service.  Happy to hand over all that trigger money.
