Does anyone on here know the standard gas port size on the CLE barrels or similar ones that are clone correct?
Just curious reading through here.

One step closer to that 6.8 build. Not sure which to use, the steel one is the correct version for that prototype but the aluminum one is manufactured better. Whichever I end up using, the other will probably go on a Mod 1 if I ever find a wingless #36S-EX, or maybe a SAM-R if I hit the lottery

@thatARMSguy

I’m assuming the top one is the steel version? Just from the prototype picture alone it almost looks like the bottom one matches closer.

Yeah, the top one's steel. I've talked with a few people who've actually cloned that rifle and they all say it would be the steel one, but honestly I'm gonna use the aluminum one cause it has the buffer pads. I tested mounting the steel one to a spare PRI rail section I've got lying around and it scratched the absolute hell out of it, I'm not gonna tear up my Swan Sleeve

It’s my Mod 1, and I want it NOW!!!

We’re building a house and moving/selling over the next 6-12 months, so ‘mod 1’ isn’t anywhere in our budget for a bit.

hey guys, my gm hydramatic intl mil co lower now sports a c af colt early grey flat top in matching color and fitted tight. its now a mk12 mod 0. this gun is the most accurate gun ive ever fired in my entire life as far as groups go. i dont even have a geissele ssa-e trigger yet its on the way. ive only used the rra 3.5lb trigger so far.

im shooting in a dried up creek bed next to river covered in mosquitos and walking 100 yards there and back breathing barely controlled and aside from some obvious flyers im getting 50 yard groups inside a nickel and 100 yard groups inside a quarter using psa 77gr otm which i cherry pick for no blems at all.

the only other ammo im shooting thats anywhere near that accurate happen to be similar groups just a tad larger using 55gr winchester. all other types 55gr ive tried have had terrible results like nothing special whatsoever.

i cranked the barrel down so tight i busted some teeth in order to cram the gas tube allignment. it had me worried. that early c af forge coded upper and pri barrel group fitted together so tightly i barely got it together. i polished the feed ramps and barely, i say barely polished the muzzle crown. i did polish the chamber also. the colt bcg was swapped a bunch of times from a giant pile until i got a bingo fit. im currently building 2 more mk12 variants.

i have to share with you guys something i found on youtube to see if anyone here has heard of this guy or considered all the stuff hes doing to accurize. heres a link. this guys a legend at camp perry sounds like.

when dennis had rails i was busy and never got one from him at sar west this year. i grew up having to buy and sell and deal with dennis and his wife alot at knob creek etc. figured id have one by now but im sure i missed em by a long shot. i need a rail still for mod 1, anyone know the eta of next batch?

same for leopold optic ts-32 i think its called. im on waiting list at midway but it never came back in stock for ages. how do i best get one just wait or what? my mk12 mod h pair is pretty much just waiting on optics now. ive got an elcan sp50b thermal for one maybe as a placeholder until i get a smaller more modern thermal and nothing for other.

i liked the mod h pics here so much i had to try the lmt sopmod and ace socom stocks as 2 variations to build. the wrench for late ace socom stock is nowhere to be found online. i asked jack who owns ace at sar west this year and he didnt have a good answer. its like they dont even make a wrench for the recent batches of ace socom stocks? would you guys custom make one or get the older gen ace socom stock and be done with it?

What wrench are you referring to?  Only wrench I’ve ever need for an original gen 3 and a current prod gen 4 is an Allen wrench.

I started my Mod 1 build in 2008, and just finished this year with the addition of the can finally. I kick myself over a lot of parts that I could have had no problem in the day. Like a S-EX rail, or the Ops-Inc can, or pre stop ARMS scope rings, or TS30's, on and on. But 16 years of patience and done.

...now to start over.

I have been through this thread multiple times and I'm thinking I will start to assemble a mk12 mod 0. I think I will go with a h&r lower and a pri upper. I can't decide between fde or black. Also I think my choice of optic will effect the color I choose. What modern optic is everyone using for the mod 0? I don't really want to pay a ton of money on an older optic that is subpar.
Link Posted: 6/23/2024 10:50:48 PM EST
[#35]
I have most of the parts for a mod 0 but will probably never complete it due to lack of funds for the optic. Maybe I’ll get lucky someday but I doubt it.

Posted in the Allen engineering thread also.

Certified my AEM5 today and did a test fit.
It rotates 6 1/4 turns before locking up to the collar.
If I shim the brake out one full rotation, do you guys think that would be enough to get the 7 1/2 turns needed
or should I shim the brake out two full turns?

Mine happens to be 10 turns and shoots fine. Not sure it's a problem, but doesn't seem to carbon lock or be a detriment to accuracy.
