I might be a bit biased, but I doubt anywhere on the web has more Mk12 info in one place than this thread right here. Do you even Official Mk12 Thread, bro?

Looking for the build list for the MK12 mod1 thinking about building one for my wife since she loved shooting my mod0 figured no reason to build her the same one. Mainly what barrel to use I am thinking a douglas like one my mod 0 since it is a tack driver. Just trying to figure out what the original crane built MK12 mod 0 used.
ETA: barrel maker.

As are specs for every Mk12 variation, links to manufacturers of complete uppers (who are also able to source specific parts from time to time), AND links to specific tech within this very thread.

C'mon bro, we're closing in on 5 years and 800 pages; I run a tight ship here.

I understand the list is on page one and most all of the parts list a manufacture but the barrel does not list a maker. Did they use different makers for the crane built MK12's. I am in no way talking down on this thread it is one of my favorite threads on ARFCOM I check it at least once a day.

Barrels always generate a lotta chatter in here. NSW-spec is Douglas. But most of us compromise and pick up White Oak Armory barrels or the Bison Armory 16" mid-length jobs for Holland builds. There's a host of offerings including Krieger, WOA, Douglas, Bison, Noveske, BCM, etc. etc. But if you're looking for NSW-spec, that'd be Douglas.

Fellas.  I got some changes going on. The unicorn (Armalite) upper might be for sale soon.  This is not a done deal at this point but I am entertaining it.  If you would like to own that nearly unobtanium piece of history, hit me with a PM and lets talk.

For the MK12 gods....(Utah)....dont worry brother.  In all of this potential change, there is a plan for another Mod 1 upper in the near future.

Yeah supposedly around April/May. We'll see. I'm the same as you, I'll wait before I pay inflated prices but if I see one on the EE for a reasonable amount I'll get it.

Originally that's what I was gonna do, but for about 200 bucks more than building my own with a BA tube, I just had Kevin build me one instead.  I got lazy, but I'm quite delighted with the outcome.

ETA:  My Harris S-BRM showed up, but my (non-KAC--sue me, it's cheaper and does the same damn thing ) adapter has a projected delivery date of tomorrow....in Maryland.

It just left City of Industry, California, this morning.  First Class.

I don't think it's gonna be here tomorrow.

Guess it's time to hit the shower with the Bipod and Krylon.

Thanks for the info that will be helpful with this build. Now I just need to decide if I am going to build it or just buy one from HCS.

$250-$300.

Are people still expecting new-in-wrapper? How would a used/painted one fare if extensively detail stripped and cleaned?

Not sure about the used/painted market price. The only ones I've seen in EE lately were either NIW or LNIW but you could probably still manage $200.

It makes me feel good knowing that back in 2011 I paid $188 for both my #38 and#40.

You can ask whatever you want and you might get a sucker to bite, but yeah $250-$275 maybe $300 if someone really wants it.

There's also a big difference between selling something and ripping someone off. $400 is bullshit.

There was an ad on ARMSLIST for an FF RAS that was listed at $100k. Sound like a good price?

I got mine new as well, almost ordered the PRI version while penny pinching but decided to get the ARMS instead.

Cirtistrip does a really good job of stripping without screwing up the finish. Based on my first run with it, I believe I can get most of the parts cleaned off an looking almost factory fresh with a toothbrush, brillo pad, and some CLP. It'll mean being out of the Mk12 game for a while, but hopefully in the end leaves me with the rifle I've been after all these years.

My Mod 0 upper is going to get stripped down. The goal is to sell some of the parts (#38 SPR-PEQ 2-3, #40, clamp FSB, lever-stop 22H's) to build funds towards an early upper, but still keep the handguard and gasbuster for a Mod H. I think the Early Mod 0 and Mod H are the two main Mk12's I desire the most. I briefly had the Mod 1 bug, but honestly the Mod 0/H stands out more to me. One for the history and pure looks, the other for the utility and final expression of the Mk12 blended with the Recce.

I've hesitated a bit, but I need to just pull the trigger. Going to get some shipping supplies, shoot some PM's, and get the ball rolling ASAP. I gotta pull this thing off by April or it may never happen.

Exactly my thoughts. I was trying to resist saying it like I wanted to and then you go and say it anyway.

I thought the proper way to strip paint on a Mk 12 is to use the damn thing. And then paint it again.

Ok to all you mk12 gurus.  I've recently completed a mod 1 to correct clone specs. Given the addiction I'm in the process of finishing my mod H.

On the mod H the only thing I'm awaiting is some lower parts and then I'll be complete.  My question is, for the mod H, is a 1-4 power optic "acceptable?"  I've got a vortex 1-4 and an swfa 1-4 using #22H rings.  I know those aren't leupys or nightforce, but I'm not interesting in buying another optic at the moment.

Thoughts?
