For those of you that are real handy around a machine shop...this could be a possibility. Says it's for rim fire rifles, that would not require a gas system. The gas ports have to be drilled out, then you'll have a functional replica! No reason it shouldn't work. Maybe clean cut the bayo lug off, go up from the bottom, weld back on. If I still worked in a machine shop I would gladly take on the challenge. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=39127354320 I have that replica gas block in my spares box. For an Airsoft part it is very well made. For use on a real firearm, .22 sure, no problem. But for use on 5.56, I don't know how well it will hold up in the long run. It's made of die case aluminum or some other cheap pot metal. If anyone is interested shoot me an IM and I can take some measurements. |

KAC has some in their warehouse you just need to find a civvy sales guy brave enough or bored enough to go chase them down. Companies always carry spares of their parts and a company as large as KAC I would bet has hundreds stashed away collecting dust on a top shelf in a 10,000 sq ft building. |

I'm sure it's not as simple as just 'finding them', either. I bet they're allocated as 'spares' for government and contract rifles that were built years ago that have a lifespan of support that needs to be adhered to. They would also need to be re-added to the civilian sales system and given supply numbers, boxes and etc. It could be done, but again, someone has to be willing to do it and KAC makes plenty of money elsewhere so it's a pet project that an individual would need to take on. |

I vaguely recall KAC saying they didn't want to sell anymore because of the hassle to get them installed, or that they would only sell to dealers who would build with them or something like that.
Thankfully I can't find an online reference for that right now. Maybe if nothing else, BCM could get a run... |

Then at least there will be an answer for the guys with partially done builds. |

WTB ads and watching the EE and other marketplaces like its your job are really the only options. Parts wise there is just no reasonable replacement that will satisfy a lust for correctness. I got mine after 6 straight months of looking which included missing 2 already installed on barrels and 1 NIB. I ended up buying one that had its lug trimmed down to fit inside a custom cut URX and I'm in the process of having a lug reattached
If close enough works for you Wilson used to make something similar and some have even used ARMS's offering. Would bother the shit out of me but it's your call obviously. |

What is the opinion on the stainless 20" BA barrel? I put an 18" on a buddies mk12 and it really runs. For the money I was thinking this is a good option.
Also knights stated the do not have any FSGB at all. The only option is to find them "in the wild" as they stated. |

| Since I think I'd have an easier time finding Obama's birth certificate than finding a KAC FSGB, I'm going to give the air soft FSGB a try. Obviously it won't be able to switch from suppressed and unsuppressed but hopefully it will work as a stand in. I'll update with results as the project progresses. |

It's that what the switch is used for on the front of the real sight? The air soft one has a little switch that is just there for looks but I thought that the real one had a switch that allowed you to switch. |

That makes a lot more sense than it switching suppressed/unsuppressed. Thanks wheelman. Wikipedia is and has been wrong for many yyears ars when referring to the SAM-R, it did not have a KAC flash hider and as such never used a suppressor, nor did it use the ARMS 17 bipod mount. I also never came across one that had a match trigger in it, they were burst triggers with the sear removed. The SAM-R, and SDM-R for that matter, weren't some fancy rifles for special types, they were squad level rifles that had an advantage over the current (at that time) A2/A4 platform. Remember, the SAM-R was like '02-'04, even ACOG's were still fairly new and definitely weren't issued across the board, Aimpoints for that matter. William |

It's that what the switch is used for on the front of the real sight? The air soft one has a little switch that is just there for looks but I thought that the real one had a switch that allowed you to switch. I was not aware of that. That makes a lot more sense than it switching suppressed/unsuppressed. Thanks wheelman. Something about using an airsoft gas block seems unsafe. |
