Duh.  I for some reason thought the MRE was a little longer than a FF RAS.

Any pics floating of this setup?

Not to my knowledge but it'd be a gangster-ass build for sure. Although, based on weight, I'd rather set it up for a Corncob.

That's very close to this one.  We've probably been through this before but, it's always good to post an ITW pic.

Actually, when I look at that pic, I can't really tell what's going on with the rail.  Does it stop at 7" and have that goofy rail adapter in front of the FSB?   I don't know...  It's in the same ballpark as your build though.

Figured it would be kosher to drop this here. Been contemplating a RECCE build for the longest time. I think i am going to pull the trigger on rebarrelling my current AR, since a new build is cost prohibitive (College student budget). Here's a quick MS paint rendering of what it should look like.

My first ever build. Not clone specific, but I like it so far. BCM upper/Noveske lower/Rainier match barrel with drilled and pinned gas block. Next step is to get some offset BUIS’s and a light or some other nerdy accessories . http://imgur.com/9EuRvRD

Thank you. It's a Mod 1 styled recce. 15.x" CLE Douglas barrel chopped to be a tight fit with the AEM5 can. KAC FF RAS, Type D A1 stock, NF 2.5-10x42, and a McKay lower should round out most the details.

Very nice. You're a suppressor manufacturer aren't you?

I'd like to see it with the NT4.  I assume the existing muzzle device is permanently attached or you'd probably already have posted pics?  Regardless, its a nice rig for sure.

Cheers

It’s a SBR.

I’m sure it would look good with the NT4 but I’d get that unsightly barrel gap back that I worked hard to eliminate. I love the AEM5 mounting system and it sounds so damn good. Todd Magee with Dead Air has high praise for the AEM5 saying it’s the best performing can he’s ever metered at both the muzzle and the ear.

That makes total sense regarding the gap.  I'm in the process of swapping the barrel and mount on my 14.5" FF RAS recce so I can run my NT4 (whenever the F4 clears) and it would look much better without the gap.  Dang.

Cheers

Utah has a great looking mini recce using a medium FF RAS and NT4 that would give you a good idea. I imagine a barrel in the 13” range would be sweet with the full length RAS and NT4.

I don't think I've seen the giessele mount so far forward.  Seems more cantilevered than the ones I've seen in the past.  Is it an extended type?

Its the hyper extended. The mk8 has alot of eye relief and i shoot ntch so it works well for me. Id rather have to much i can pull back than not enough room to move it forward
