Yeah, I understand the need for it.  I just didn't know giesselle made it like that....  I hadn't seen it yet.

I have a similar set up.  It's almost a little too much forward, but I don't think an LT-104 is quite enough....

Not a mil clone by any means, but this isn't a clone thread. I've been hesitant to post pics of it in here because of all the 16 in/15.x in mk12s in this thread, but from some of the more recent posts of vintage recces, I felt like this is applicable.

I got the impression from those photos that the mil guys that built recces for official "in-the-wild" shenanigans had the freedom to use whatever personal modifications that they preferred. If it doesn't fit just let me know.

Armalite M15 16 inch heavy profile barrel w/ AAC flash hider (would love an AEM one day)

I have a Geissele MK2 that I haven't known what to do with and this rifle is some really good inspiration. How do you like the MK4? Is the 1.5x on the low end bothersome over a "true" 1x?

It depends on what you use it for. This is not my go to home defense rifle; I prefer non magnified optics for that, but for ranges between 25 and 200 yards it's a great scope! The glass is good, it's lightweight but very durable. Illumination isn't quite daylight bright when the sun is directly overhead. Honestly I'd much rather stick the Mk4 back on my mini recce and get the new NX8 for the recce as this thing is def. capable of making accurate shots beyond 200 yards...the Mk4 is limiting in that manner. Could just be my aging eyes though.

Gotcha, that's kinda what I was thinking. I was contemplating putting one (currently one on the EE for <$600) on my 16" Mk12 Mod 1 work-in-progress build but might hold off since I'd like to shoot it a bit further than 200 yds. I'd kill for a new NX8, that thing looks like the ultimate recce optic right now.

There are some killer deals for Kahles K16i 1-6s in the EE. It's easily my favorite optic.
Really need to take updated pic of this.

I just love seeing this diversity of cantilever scope mounts on these rifles.
My favorite is the Nightforce UniMount, or for QD the Larue Tactical.
I got so disillusioned with the ARMS 22s that I transitioned to either LT QD rings
or the ARMS #35 base & Track Mount Rings/Cap for a SPR type look.

I was thinking it was probably easier to mount the scope in the giessellle.  So I get ya there.  I like not having a tool to take it off.  Although I do keep it tight enough that sometimes I use screwdriver to pry at the levers....  LOL.

I like my LaRue as well and it is pretty tight to take off. It doesn't compare though to how tight you can clamp down a Geissele. I have more uppers than I do optics so I like quick release mounts for range day versatility, but once I acquire a couple more scopes and figure out how I want things to stay, I'll be upgrading variable power scopes to Geissele mounts.
