Original "Gangster Grip"

Own the night circa-2004 with 65 blistering lumens of incandescent light and an incredible 60 minute run time with two CR123 batteries (Laser Products 6P), a murky IR filter cover, all built into a vertical grip wired to control both the AN/PEQ-2 and white light with recessed buttons (Radio Shack), built in-house for a special operations unit.

This is awesome. I just sold my hl-x. I liked it but I wasn’t sure I could splice it and I saw too many people say theirs started flickering after the recoil from their rifles. Ended up getting an Arisaka 600

Is that fairly easy? 3 wires? Positive, negative, and lead?

This is a PowerTac Gen2 Cadet on a Gear Sector mount.  The cable was shortened, sleeved and resoldered to the internal switch assembly.

Does anyone know of a good, more modern MN11 bulb substitute that would be good for this beast?

Augee that MRE rail and Delta flashlight thingy is outstanding. Seriously one of the best rifles on the board. I'd kill for an MRE

Another Thorntail Scout setup. this one with Streamlight Protac RM-1 and top mount tape switch.  Not normally a fan of top tapes, but this one needed ambi access.

This is a Surefire M600IB, mounted with a KAC scout mount. I already ordered everything to add a tape switch on the top rail.

Why would I leave the basement when it's got all these granite floors to larp on?

@Lonestar12

I’m trying out a setup similar to your’s. TLR-1 mounted “upside down” and in front of a folding front Magpul MBUS. I like it so far but the large bevel of the TLR obstructs the bottom of the sight picture. I’m not sure if it’s going to bother me long term. How long have you ran with that setup and does it cause you any problems?

It's a little annoying, but you get used to not seeing the bottom part of the sight. Surefire x300 is a little lower. It's an easy and quick setup for a wml and the switch is relatively intuitive while mounted this way.

@Lonestar12

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, it will take a little getting use to but I like the setup a lot, even using an absolute co-witness mount on my optic. It works perfectly because with the MBUS front sight pushed up against the TLR-1, as a lefty, it won’t let the switch turn all the way to constant on. So that fixes one of my gripes about the light itself and allows me to use it as temporary only.

No wear yet on the new set up but looking forward to putting it through it's paces. Still don't understand how people mount scout style lights on mlok with additional pic rail when there are so many good options from HSP/IWC, Arisaka. Less is more.

Is that the stream light that takes 18650 batteries? Does it come with its own pressure pad or are you running a Surefire as well?

I'm assuming you're asking me. @TennesseeRat

This is the Railmount 1. The Railmount HLX is the dual batt model that takes 18650s/CR123s and 1000 lumens. All the "railmount" models come with a clicky tailcap and tape switch. The mounting holes are the same as Surefire scout models but switches are not compatible between Surefire and Streamlight.

Hope this helps out.

Streamlight HLX in a Magpul extended cantilever scout mount. I've had it mounted since Christmas and have not experienced any flickering, the last 3 months I've been using it as OPFOR in force on force UTM shoot house training and it's still going strong even after being dropped and bashed into walls and furniture. It's only a matter of time before it's hit with a UTM round, when that happens I'll report back.

Just got this Olight PL-2 and it's pretty nice.  Only thing I don't like so far is there is no lockout (as far as I know) and it's pretty easy to accidentally activate.  Other than that, it's great!

I've been running an HL-X for a year now on 18650's. Mine came with a streamlight pressure pad, no issues with that either.
