Foster slugs (rifled slugs) can be safely fired through any normal choke. They are made to swedge through any normal choke without any problem. |

It does seem like a good idea for home defense gun if one has lots of other guns. It actually does what everyone expects a shotgun to do. That's impressive.
The Hornady Light Mag 00 Buckshot load. This load has a good shot cup and usually shoots tight patterns. This is at 5 yards with a rifled barrel.

Except that we don't want a defensive shotgun to do "what everyone expects a shotgun to do". In a home defense shotgun, we want very tight patterns, to assure that every pellet hits the bad guy.
