SR-30 with:
-ACOG 3X30 with the Blackout reticle
-Trijicon RMR 3.5 MOA dot
-CRS/PRT suppressor
-Surefire Mini micro scout light pro white light

This has been about a 2.5 year project to get it all together. I've spent Q1 ammo validation testing, and truing the optic. I have no problem hitting a chest up sized target out to 400 yards with this setup.

What is your RMR zero? How do you like the reticle on the acog?
Sweet setup!

I plan on doing a data share write-up here within a couple weeks. I really like the ACOG / piggy backed RMR setup, and the Blackout BDC in the ACOG. I currently have the RMR zeroed for subs to match the 0-50 subsonic hold diamond in the ACOG.

When you want a KS-1 but have to settle for “the KS-1 we have at home”:

(In all seriousness I really enjoyed tracking down all the parts and putting these together. Thanks again to the arfcom member who helped me find the 13” URX4.)

Recently finding the FF-RAS 21318 was PDC.  I am grateful for the vendor who supplied it to me.

After deciding to start a 14.7" FN build, I went shopping today and scared up an 18" FN and went to work on swapping the FF RAS on to see how it mocked up.

I'm still going to build a 14.7, just need to get the barrel and NT-4 compensator (93048).  It will end up being a mini-recce with a 1-4 of some kind.

Hey gents, was hoping I could get a little history/information on this stick I came across. It’s been sitting for a really long time and as far as I remember, hasn’t been fired much at all.

I’m very ignorant on SR15s, but I did notice the 2 stage trigger is the adjustable all parkerized version like the MK11’s had. Noticed the LMT gen 2 says patent pending. I need to find its rear sight, its somewhere around the shop. Never had an optic mounted to it.

Happy to take additional pictures, etc. but some things I’m wondering are:

-age?
-why the selector marking locations are milled into the receiver prior to engraving (SAFE and FIRE)
-value?
-anything else you have for me would be wildly appreciated!

Thank you so much!

If that is indeed what I think it is, you have 1 of 100 taupe guns.

Value could be around $5000.

Call up KAC with the S/N and verify that it is one of the limited run SR-15 legacy guns.

It's cool either way

Appreciate the reply @m4ger . The one thing I hate about these guns is that I’m afraid to even touch the thing or cycle it as it highly likely will be finding a new home. I emailed KAC so I’ll see what I get back from them, appreciate the suggestion. This doesn’t really fit the niche of what I have, would be better served in someone else’s collection that will appreciate it regardless of what it ends up being.

I can’t stop being curious about the milled out selector marking areas, that ones got me

It’s unbelievably handy and way lighter than it looks, then again the only experience I have with KAC built rifles are Mk11s and those aren’t lighter than they look . The old school adjustable mk11 trigger definitely lends me to believe it might be those initial batch guns they showed off at SHOT 2007, I imagine were delivered late 07 into 08? Just spitballing but can’t wait to hear back!

I recently picked up one that looks new and factory shot only per previous owner.  Mine came with KAC case, taupe grip/rail covers, lock, manuals, rear big knob 600m sight, shooting log, etc.  I’m not sure of the date but I believe 2009-2010 was mentioned when it was purchased.  I paid $5k for mine if that helps.

Super helpful, appreciate your reply! Is yours an 801 serial or does yours start with a 9? Milled selector markings?

Thanks again for the reply!

It looks like this

Good to hear from you @JCap.  And FWIW, certain pieces of KAC history are hiding in the back of that safe

And I am very grateful we worked a deal out for them.

Thank you! The only KAC part on the rifle is the KAC HEAT rail, or whatever the handguard is called. I acquired the KAC rail about 7 years ago, and I've been actively trying to complete this IAR for at least 2 years. The upper and lower receivers are from a factory tanodized Colt 6921, which is a pretty good match to some of the tanodized uppers/lowers that were used on the actual prototype IAR's that used these KAC HEAT rails. This build has taken a long time, but it's worth it to see this very rare KAC handguard on the finished rifle!

As a comparison, the black rifle in the photos below has an original prototype Colt IAR upper (1 of maybe 10 with the markings on the left side of the upper receiver). This is a good side-by-side comparison between the Colt and KAC handguards, which act as massive heat sinks. Interestingly, even with such a large handguard, the rifles aren't awkward to handle. They're a little front heavy, but since the handguards are just large aluminum heatsinks, they're actually pretty lightweight. The tanodized rifle with the KAC handguard weighs in at 8 pounds 8 ounces (without the magazine or opic), so it's not too bad.

UnbrandedAR forged upper

The new PRG is definitely a better fit to the NT-4 muzzle devices.

I’ve acquired a 12.5” URX 3 with the integrated flip up front sight but I’m honestly having second thoughts about using it for a build. I’ll probably end up posting it on the EE, but I’m also a bit hesitant to give it up because I know these rails are hard to come by… thoughts?

I have had one of these since I sourced it as a "found in the factory" via a contact that works for KAC (I'm from central florida).

I could never really find a build that seemed worthy of its unique configuration and pedigree.

A simple 14.5" seemed like a waste since a urx3.1 13.5" does it better. I wanted something with a rifle length gas system to utilize the 12.5" length. But... A mk12-ish build or sending? Meh...

But recently it found it's calling... On a 16" rifle-length 308 POF Rogue (which I pieced together from specially ordered parts).

It's a 308 dmr that is the size and weight of an AR15.
