That's how I ended up running my 13"
Aimpoint H2 with a G45

I have so much less than zero interest in the 6.8 cartridge.. All I've wanted is a 6.5CM barrel, but that whole thing seems dead. Looking into KAC and LMT 6.5CM build now.

I’d buy the new rail. Not sure on the charging handle. I really like the one on it now.

Did you double check torque on the barrel bolts …

That may have been the problem.  I checked this morning (since I was cleaning the rifle anyways) and while the front, #1 screw was set to 60 in/lbs, the rear, #2 screw had to go about a quarter turn before hitting 60 in/lbs.  I'll have to try to get out and shoot it before the season starts and see if this fixed the issue.

That is exactly how mine was too from factory … all my SCARs were that way too … always check screws from factory … you’d think they would check …

I do it twice. Initial torque and recheck/confirm …

I would reset the torque on both screws ... don't just torque down the one that was not in spec ...

I backed both screws off and took the barrel off completely, and then reinstalled and retorqued the two screws.  Couldn't find much on the process, but hopefully two two screws that are numbered and marked with their appropriate torque, I didn't manage to screw it up.

🤞

Really trying hard to get interested in 6.8x51 but just can't. 6.5 Creedmoor version please. I'd take it in 8.6 BO reluctantly (as a 13" SBR)

Remember the Sig Raptor concept? https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2021/12/07/new-sig-mcx-raptor-is-it-a-mini-spear-or-a-mega-rattler/#:~:text=The%20MCX%20Raptor%20is%20a%20shorter-barreled%20and%20more%20compact%20.308

I'd still love to see that in 8.6BLK.

EDIT: I wonder if you could make high pressure hybrid case 8.6BLK for the supersonic use case?

Update: Got out and shot it yesterday, but not before swapping out the ACOG for a Vortex UH-1 Huey holo sight.  I had planned on getting an EOTech, but thanks to some deals through work, I got this guy for just over $400 brand new, and more importantly, had it in time for deer season.  Zeroed it yesterday, and with a 3x Vortex magnifier, I was able to ring steel consistently at 100m, and repeatedly (if not quite as consistently) at 200m.  Didn't notice any more wander zero issues, so I'm going to chalk that up to the barrel retention screw not being torqued properly.  The rifle was actually better at putting rounds on target than the above mentioned AR-10 with a 1-6x LPVO.

After playing around with the Vortex Huey, I think I've finally found a winner for this rifle.  It's big a chunky, but that fits the rifle just fine.  The benefits of a holographic sight really pair well with it, and their limitations seem comparable.  I'll just need to decide on a good magnifier to pair with it now, so I can stop stealing my wife's.

Hopefully in the next day or so I'll be able to post up a picture of it with Bambi's mom.  We'll see.  I let a doe walk this morning, because she seemed a bit scrawny, but I'm not sure what other options I'll have.

As always, here's the glamour shot just because:

I just put one on layaway.  I just got a SCAR 17S DMR and Benelli M3, so I didn't want to drop another 4k on a gun so I put a 6.8 on layaway for a few months.  I'm actually excited to see how it shoots when I do get it and see what the 6.8 is like.  Granted I'll be shooting regular ammo, not the high pressure stuff.

I was planning to buy one as well but then I found a 249S and a Krieghoff K-80 both at great prices and configured perfectly for me.

Maybe for Christmas…

Field stripped a 6.8 variant ... it does have a different buffer and rear carrier cut to fit the new buffer design ... buffer is more of a pelvis shape ...

The new handguard is cool and I hope Sig will offer it!
