That thing is ridiculously cool. How quiet is it? Also made me want an M24 suppressor and just looked back, very pleased to see Ron is going to make more. I shot him an email to get on a list straight away. So now that's the M4, M24 and AEM5 I'm hopefully going to be purchasing this year! Definitely post some more of that thing!

Ron. Is there a way to get an insert for the 723/727 M4 cut barrel for the Gordon can? The ones that were made will not work. I have one collar made to run the AEM5 that might fit with some material removed off the ID. But the collar that came with the can is for the skinny barrel. Attachment Attached File

When people ask for a gordon collar. I ask for barrel diameter. Some ask for an undersized collar and plan on cutting it to fit. Not sure why you have an undersized one.

Hey Ron I'm sure you're tired of hearing this but I'm wondering if you got my emails. First name Jared. Just want to make sure I wasn't filtered as spam. Sent to [email protected]

Thanks a lot!

i think he is covered up with emails. I have emailed 5-6 times trying to place an order for my store. I would imagine sooner or later he will get caught up. it is what it is. I would love to have M24 , AEM5'S, Gordon cans, collars and brakes. trying to get my SOT off the ground is tough.

I reached out to him on here just to make sure I wasn't spam filtered. The email I sent out a little over a month ago never got a reply so I figured it was filtered. Need more on that M24 canned A2 Carbine posted in this thread!

I had a self-imposed one email per month rule for reaching out to limit how much I was a part of the problem Ron probably just gets too many emails to respond to all and actually make suppressors! I could see the value in a partnership with an SOT to offload the "add me to the list" noise for a premium... These are definitely the businesses I want to support!

I'm going to take tomorrow morning off and work on this. I found 4-5 emails for M4's and M24's and put them in the proper folders and responded back. I'll post when done and anyone that hasn't heard back can
try again. I'd like to get this sorted out before I start on the 2 batches.

It sounds great. A lot less backpressure with the extra volume and 30 cal hole. I'll try to get some more pics of it this weekend.

Still undecided if I want to keep the barrel setup on that gray A2 upper or switch it to a my C7 upper.

If I may change the topic from emails... the M24 can looks like it is 1” longer than the AEM5-30 however reflexes over the barrel 2” more. My graduate level math courses tells me the M24 can extends the overall length 1” less than the AEM5-30. Other than the overall length, what practical difference is there between the two? Is there a significant difference between sound or flash reduction between? Does one have less gas blowback than the other on a gas gun?

An aside, but relevant - is everyone getting emails when there is a post to this thread?  I have all the boxes checked and I get notices about other threads, but not this one.  I have to rely on my memory to come and check, lol.

Be precise. If your collar is loose you could have the suppressor out of alignment. If it’s too tight it will not go on. I’m sizing mine on my mill.

Ron will make it what you say. So unless you want a press fit collar (you dont) add .001-.002 to whatever Dia you mic it at.

Question about the contour of the collar itself:

If I wanted to have a gunsmith contour a bolt gun barrel for an AEM5, i.e. for the "collar" to be integral with the barrel, what would be the dimensions I'd need to supply?

My understanding is that the collar has a 20 degree taper, but I've searched up and down and I can't seem to find the dimensions on the larger outer diameter of the rear of the collar, or the smaller outer diameter toward the front.

5/8-24 thread .630 long, then .850 back to 2.5" from bare muzzle, then 20 degree per side (40 degree included angle) taper to a minimum of .920 diameter.

Really appreciate it Ron, from the man himself! I didn't realize the minimum was that low, I guess that means with a .936 block this could even be done on an AR.. extremely helpful, thank you!

Any idea how much barrel length is required for the m24 with a rifle length gas?

it reflexes back over the barrel 4.625"

how much barrel length you will need would depend on the type of collar being used

20" barrel is what I have here with a 15" URX4.  This is a Ballistic Advantage barrel which Ron JUST made me 2 custom collars because, even though the barrel is SUPPOSED to be .725, a standard Mk12 Collar would NOT fit.  Point to note here, unlike the Mk12 collar, these two collars do not have an internal step down on the inside diameter.  These are straight interior walled collars and the base, near end of the collar butts up against the .750 gas block journal.

@k31user

Hey Ron, I'm a little confused as to how I'm supposed to get on the list for the Gordon can and M24 can. I sent an initial email asking to be put on the list to which you instructed me to order through my local dealer. I contacted them, they called you and were supposed to put an order for three cans (M4, M24, and AEM5). They emailed me back however and said I needed to email you again with which cans I wanted. Is this correct or should I contact my dealer again to have them place an actual order with you? Posting this in an open forum just in case others are wondering how to get on the list as well.

Thanks,

Jared

Thanks to steve at adco for contouring the socom. Had to poach my can off the mk12 until the other one is out of jail. Have the new NX8 on back order and will eventually piggyback an RMR. All started by finding the FF ras in the back of the safe.

The straight wall with just the set screw has been enough to hold the collar in place so far?

Yes the set screw is enough. The collar is nice and snug as it's reaches the step. Not "press fit" tight but snug.

I have undersized collars but remember that the collar needs to butt up against something. either the gas block or the gas block journal if there isn't a step between the gas block journal and the thread shoulder.
