If you don't mind me asking, what is your setup as in product names?

Ok, here is my first try at a chest rig and yes I know it's made by "Condor" so save the BS!  I use it once a month for a total of ten minutes shooting at a carbine shoot?!?  It holds enough mags, fits well and hasn't fell apart in the last three months.

I am a new shooter and I'm trying to find a layout that works for me.  Here I am using a radio pouch for my first aid kit.

Riding a little low in my opinion (read "Chest" rig). But looks good and looks like fun.

Thanks, I'll try it higher.  I haven't used this stuff in a professional kind of way and I am learning on the go!?!

Wear it where it's comfy for you to wear it.

"Comfortable" isn't always ideal or correct for intended usage.

In my opinion, your POU is exactly condor's target audience. For what you need, there is nothing wrong with it.

Maybe you just put mags in for pic purposes..........or maybe you have a cool trick when you re-load, but aren't your pistol and AR mags facing the wrong way ?

Otherwise, Cool set-up !!......and Yes, nice to see something different..........

Brass to the grass, away from your ass. Thats how I would set them up. Depends on your personal preference and how you reflexively grab the magazines.

I 'm not sure of my preference yet.....and thats why I was asking (still learning ?).......and like to hear  all reasons why people do stuff ??

Beer can grip vs. wrist-turn grip. Different ways for different folks. There is no "right" way. Just what works best for you.

I like to run my AR mags at the 9 oclock and use a beer can grip on them. I think that is the fastest way to reload.
Video of my reload
My pistol mags, depending on what set up im running, I put forward twords the center of the belt. Bullets always face forward.
My limited set up shows that quite well.

and my holster does cover the trigger. The gun just slides out when placed on the ground.

Theres nothing cheesy about it. I have some of those pistol mag pouches and they are hands down the best value. The only thing I would recommend on yours is since your are right handed, move all your pistol mags to the left, and have the mags facing bullets forward. Your rifle mag pouches cover most of your mags so it would be hard to grip it that way. You could put a spacer in the bottom to raise them up some.

Hey Thanks for the info TB.......

LOL.....I actually put the pistol mags in backwards for the pic....to see if anyone would notice (due to my first comment on your 1st pic)....and your the only one who did notice Heh heh  I do run them "bullets facing to the right"  I guess that makes me a "wrist flipper" instead of a "beer gripper"   I'm still gonna try it though.........

My set-up was never meant for speed, more of a day-hike set-up.........the only speed I need is for the occasional Jack that hops out on the trail !

What is strange is my unit actually allows personal PPE. Alot of our Marines use their own plate carriers, pouches, mags, chest rigs, as long as they are tan/desert/coyote.

Really?  what type of unit are you in?  my understanding was that regular units needed to use the issue CIF body armor, it's possible that you have some bad ass leadership who changed a few things around at the unit level to allow that.

Its a reserve unit and its our CO that gave the go ahead to do so, or atleast from my understanding. Might be because we are a reserve unit but alot of our guys are also prior active duty and even they have their own plate carriers and gear they use now that they even used WHILE they were AD and no one said a thing. Used them on multiple deployments too.

I talked to a few of the guys in Bridgeport when I was there, I remember them saying that personal PPE hadn't been been a problem as long as it somewhat resembled the issued gear and provided the same level or better of protection. I know that's not going to help my case, with the MultiCam. Just my personal experience. Same thing was said of boots, mags, and some various other stuff.

And this is why reserve COs get relieved all the time when units get activated.  Unless he wears 4 stars, he cannot say a policy put out by CMC is not applicable in his unit.

It takes a BN CO to set the PPE level, but a BN CO cannot authorize non-Marine Corps approved gear to be used.

that's pretty sweet then, i'm in a reserve unit getting activated this month for an Afghan det but i think we're getting the new MTV and SPC to use as well as the IAR and an ass load of new 782 gear.  we'll see how this plays out.  the only complaint i have with the SPC is those gay half assed attempts at the side plate cummerbund pockets so hopefully they fixed that with the new one.

Used them on multiple deployments too.

that's pretty sweet then, i'm in a reserve unit getting activated this month for an Afghan det but i think we're getting the new MTV and SPC to use as well as the IAR and an ass load of new 782 gear.  we'll see how this plays out.  the only complaint i have with the SPC is those gay half assed attempts at the side plate cummerbund pockets so hopefully they fixed that with the new one.

You are with 1/25 right? I have a buddy in their. I tried to get on your guys deployment but it got all fucked up

Also, I'll shoot you a PM about that MARADMIN––one of my Marines (also infamous for demanding to 'see the order' when I told him that the SSgt. wouldn't like his white socks in cammies) insists that it's only the ESAPIs that are mandatory PPE.  I'm almost 100% sure he's ass wrong, but the company gunny was busy running an NBC range all day, so I couldn't ask him.

And this is why reserve COs get relieved all the time when units get activated.  Unless he wears 4 stars, he cannot say a policy put out by CMC is not applicable in his unit.

It takes a BN CO to set the PPE level, but a BN CO cannot authorize non-Marine Corps approved gear to be used.

hmm maybe they only allow it for training purpose. I honestly dont know what they will say when we get activated. Probably tell us to drop the BS and use their own. As far as i know, they let us use our own mag pouches, dump pouches, utility pouches as long as they are of regulation color. I did not however hear any official word about plate carriers, armor, chest rigs etc. All i know is there are dozens of guys who DO wear their own, and like i said even the prior active duty guys who claim to have used personal plate carriers in their active days.

What i do know is that they are cracking down on Marines using shit like commercial assault packs. Things like that they dont allow.

All of this is as of last drill, we had a small brief on it. I have drill in....6 hours from now so, if i can get more info on that i will post it here if anyone cares.

Maybe you can shed more light on it, Sir

PPE is the only area that there is no flexibility on, packs, mag pouches, gloves, knives, dump pouches etc no cares about.  But your helmet and body armor is one area that no one is going to allow you to use commercial gear

Thats what i figured. Thats why i dont get how Marines get away with using thier own plate carriers. Unless the carrier itself is fine, just not the plates. No clue
