With 1 meal, no water and no shelter I guess he wont be eating/ drinking, or sleeping either.

The one MRE is a 2 day supply for me. I can sleep in the gear and throw on the goretex over it to stay dry from dew and such. I did add a camelback to the pack and will likely add another to the vest. I can hump atleast 5-7 miles(if I really put out) without water, without heatstroking/passing out/dying/etc.

I guess you can shoot squirrels with your pellet pistol and gig frogs with your flashlight.

I think you need to stop, take a deep breath and think about what you are saying.

Seriously, there are a lot of folks with really good, well thought out stuff on here.  You need to think.

Curahee might not be feeling like it, but I am feeling a little froggy and argumentative.

What in the high holy hell are you talking about??  Being AD doesn't give you any advantage whatsoever.  I've seen and trained my fair share of AD .Mil-types that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper sack.  The same principle applies to some LEO's as well.  On the other hand, I've very much enjoyed training with .Mil / USG / LEO's that have been very squared away.

Lemme give you a little help on a few things:
1.  There's a metric butt-load of Active Duty, Reserve, and Veterans on this site.  Those tank icons are what we call a "Clue".
2.  I honestly think I see more ChiCom crap than American made gear.  You're carrying IR Chem's, but you don't have any NOD's, and what the hell is with all the rifle ammo??  You going to invade Canada or something??
3.  Your planning needs some serious adjusting.  I'd start out be deleting your current plan, and then re-evaluating everything.  The whole "LeJune is a few miles away" aspect is WTF x 87.  So you're going to hit up LeJune, get resupplied with food that you think may still be there...  yeah that's just
4.  Finally, your gear is borderline substandard, and its waaaayyy to friggen clean to have been used anywhere else besides a basement.  Go take a few classes with that gear and see what happens.  I doubt your gear would stand up to a four day class over at EAG, Thunder Ranch, or most other top notch schools.
5.  "One MRE is a two day supply"????    Holy Crap.... really???  Best of luck with that one.

Try the BS somewhere else... like over on SOCNET or PS.  I'd love to see that happen.  There's enough men & women here who have BTDT to smell BS when we see it.

Now, since I'm not all about being an ass, I'd like to say a few positive things about your gear.
1.  You gear is very clean.
2.  You gear looks good for Bugging IN and hunkering down in a single location.
3.  You have nice wood floors.
4.  None of your pictures have your toes in them.

ETA:  Since you're claiming you're Active Duty... how about you post a few pictures of you *working*???  I'm so friggen tempted to call Shenanigans and BS.

if youre AD and are near lejeune, are you implying you are a Marine? if so, you should know that in the event of something happening, all of the LCpls on the base will make anything and everything worth a damn disappear long before you can make it onto the base via one of the three gates.

side note, me and my buds always talked about what we would do if zombies invaded while we were on base. hit up the motor pool, then the armory, then supply, then CIF to steal stuff we can sell to the resistance, and then hunker down at the ASP.

Thanks ARJJ.  I looked at a lot of chest rigs before ordering that one.  I also have the Eagle chest rig for my AK, but that chest rig is pretty much naked for now.  Without being able to try out most of the chest rigs on the market, I couldn’t make myself order a chest rig with fixed pouches and then realize it wasn’t what I wanted, and then end up ordering another fixed chest rig.  I went with the cheap pouches for now, b/c I am not sure what layout I will actually end up with in the end.  So, once I know what layout I want, then I may upgrade those cheap pouches.  And even then, my gear is always evolving as with most folks.

Another aspect of having modular set-up and putting different sized pouches on it, is that I realized a thick chest rig interferes with going prone and getting in/out of vehicles (especially navigating pass the steering wheel), so I realized very quickly, that a single layer layout is what would work for me.  I like what someone said recently, they only have things on their chest rig that makes holes and fix holes, for the most part.

Ok, you love ammo. Do you also love fantasizing about invading Camp Lejeune's pantry Commando style? A skinny (5-9 and 130 certainly qualifies) one-man army going on a non-stop, glorious shooting spree cross-country?

All right. Enough hyperbole. Brother, regardless of if you're AD military or not, you're fooling NO ONE if you honestly expect anyone here to believe you can hump all that shit even the 5-10 miles you claim. (and I have serious doubts you've ever done that. There's no sweat stains in all that shiny black gear.) Take the above poster's advice.

Scrap any plans to raid or invade any military base––it ain't happening. While you're at it, scrap any plans to engage in any lengthy firefight as an individual. If you want to survive for any length of time while making it to your BOL, stealth, speed, and conflict avoidance are key.

Look through these gear threads, and step back and look at what the intended purpose of each is. Look at the occupation of each poster. Get some professional training, most importantly. I think that would demostrate that some of your gear is lacking in certain areas.

If SHTF is the primary reason for your gear, take a look at Currahee's site, www.everycitizenasoldier.org. He has some EXCELLENT information there, for novices and pros alike.

New active shooter rig for the reserve gig. Sorry the f'in picture is upside down...taken with my phone and I can't download Adobe 9.0 to this laptop to rotate it.

I went a little cheap on a couple items––don't laugh too hard.

5.11 Chest Rig
5.11 Med Dump Pouch
Condor Triple Mag Shingle (I can already see this being replaced.)
ATS Admin Pouch
HSGI Blowout/Bleeder Pouch

I have yet to really test it out. Hopefully we'll have another patrol rifle class or range day I can put it through some paces.

Oh yeah and "raiding the base"? As a service member that is both offensive and retarded.

Who doesn't love ammo and mags?  And maybe he has walked in that stuff.  And so what if he isn't sporting the name "hip" brands.

The real question is why?  What could you possibly hope to survive with that many magazines?

And if you were active duty, I would think you'd  want to carry less, not more(unless you're a REMF who doesn't train).  I'm required to carry 7 mags here in A-Stan, and I'd be happy to go down to three or four on me, 1 in the weapon.  The rest could go in an assault pack or something like the Ares Combat Pack.

To each his own though.  If you train like you fight, and plan on fighting like that, only the end will tell.

My opinion is backed by years in the infantry and years wearing and training in gear and getting other civilians to wear and train in gear.  There are others here with more experience than me saying the same thing.

Diamondback tactical and battlelab are the same thing. I ordered it out of a catalog they sent me probably 2 years or so ago. I would try googling battlelab low profile chest rig. I think it was like $90.

A general reply/explanation to the slams:
Agreed, the "gear" is heavy but I've humped easily 80lbs of gear + a saw 12 miles and didn't fall out where there were guys twice my size, minus the saw, dropping out(thus the active duty 'advantage' I talked about, aka lots of practice). I take pride in being able to best many of my peers and especially the majority of my NCOs. Plus I've always been good at the forced march. As for moving quickly or fighting with the gear, it ain't gonna happen. That's what quick release is for. It can come off quick in layers as need be. Also, the gear is clean because I clean it. I clean it because that's how I've always been taught. For the other active duty, what do you do to your shit before you turn it in to CIF? You clean it. Why would anyone leave their gear dirty unless they were trying to look hardcore to that call of duty crowd of basement warriors anyway? You clean your rifles don't you? Why not your other stuff? As for the comment about it being substandard; it isn't nearly the best out there(I WOULD IMAGINE). I don't know what the 'best' is. I do know that regardless of brand, nationality, commonly accepted level of quality, etc, etc., it works well enough for me. Is it the gear I'd really like to have? No. But it's what I've got, right here, right now. I have to make do. The only Item that came from a surplus store was the baton I threw on the leg platform for giggles. It's completely useless and unneccessary as is the majority of the rest of the gear. It's a gear porn thread. I posted gear. Apparently that rates a slam a gang bang on me. Do I take this seriously, yes. Do I believe in having fun with it sometimes, yes. If everyone will chill out I'll show my grand idea for SUPERHSLD(Yes it's another joke also). You want to see a more realistic loadout? Cool, I can do that. Just calm the fuck down.
And the MRE really could last me 2 days. Day 1- use the juice mix and a couple of little things to keep electrolytes(spelling?) and some nutrients in my system. Day 2 when I'm really hungry, start into the main meal/sides. I don't eat a whole lot, thus the skinny-ness. I did this alot in Bootcamp and through MCT(yeah, I'm a POG).
The IR chems are for giggle/wtf factor. I wouldn't seriously take them anywhere. Again, lets take a deep breath, have a smoke and calm down a little, please?
The scope is a cheapy. It isnt an eotech or HSLD but it works for it's intended purpose(a method of aim doubling for decent ranged observation). I wasn't about to buy another Swarvoski Z5 5-25x52mm to put on an Oly K-16. Cheap rifle gets a cheap scope. I plan on improvement but this is my first AR and at the time, I didn't have fanatical advice on do's and don'ts. Cut me some slack.

I was looking for a pic to try and steer one of my favorite threads away from clusterfuck and dug out an oldie

and I realize how even when I change my gear it comes back to this (2006 and it was a year old at that time)

I sold that to try a couple of different chest rigs and here I am last month - what's old is new again

EDIT There are a butload of small tweaks between the two pics, but an action picture really can't capture them.

Dedicated pistol belt, dropped holster, more trauma gear on the 1st and 2nd line, commo gear

and the rifle is a complete change

I really miss the hat in the first pic

Good idea.

Another old pic. My gear has evolved immensely since then. I need to take new pics sometime.

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me how to get the tank icon? It was my belief that it was a paying-member-only ordeal. My bad.

I wonder should I even try to explain my 'plan' and gear and how I believe I could make it work or is the bashing just going to continue?

It will probably just continue.  Just being honest here.

Your loadout just sceams "boot", and the rest of this nonsense confirms it.  Why don't you just take a step back and let the fire die down, because it will be even worse for you if you act like this in the military forum.

The loadout was a joke. Sarcasm. Not realistic. Done.
