Anyone try to make a Sidewinder looking variant of the TAC-13 that uses Tailhook Mod 1 with a top folder style "brace" Really want one that resembles this. I may have to modify an ATI top folding (not ruining a factory stock) and with the TAC 13 not adapting well to 870 stocks not sure it will look right.

I am looking for one of these TAC-13s but they are out of stock everywhere.
While I wait for them to come back in stock. Any updates on what works/doesn't @bigcraig Do you know what forend is compatible with these? Is it also Versamax? If a guy could go out and get some wood furniture for this unit I think that would be pretty tits looking in the end. Some high end Walnut shit like this... https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/ Are you still happy with this unit? Functions well with all the ammos you feed it? |

GG&G pretty much has all the goodies for the Tac13 now. Wood furniture, I haven't a clue, as it is not my style. |

I agree using a set screw would be better than a castle nut. I pieced this together from two different vendors. CDNN had two Braces on discount along with the buffer tube kit and a Blackhawk grip (really an Ergo). I also purchased the adapter directly from Ergo. Once all the parts showed up took just a few minutes to assemble. The cost to put this together was much cheaper than either GG&G or Suarez was charging for the similar setup. |

I joined to club today. Bought the only one I could find locally. $749 plus tax...didn't think that was too bad.
I ordered the ergo brace/grip adaptor from Brownels. Both them and Ergo direct are back ordered. That will give me a chance to shoot it as is until it arrives. I chose the ergo over the Mesa just because the Mesa grip angle looks all jacked up to me...the ergo looks more normal. We shall see. Someone should make an aluminum MLOK forearm so I can add a short vertical foregrip😁 |

Fired the first, very informal shots just minutes ago.
3 S&B 00 buck, 3 Federal game #6s and 4 Federal multipurpose #7.5s (older packaged wally world 100 pack). All ran perfect. This is what it is like to have a semi-auto that actually does work with light loads. Outstanding! |

Been running a few more rounds through the Tac 13 here and there.
I am enjoying shooting it so much with just the factory grip, I don't know how much of a hurry I am in to add the brace, etc... Bought a scabbord that is designed for an 18" shotgun, so the tac 13 is fully enclosed by it. I kinda like it that way. Attached a molle pack to the front to hold some shells. That along with the shoulder sling make it a 1 package grab and go. My KSG hasn't been feeling the love lately. |

I previously owned a shockwave with a brace. Liked it alot, ended up selling it. I can't even remember why I sold it.
Agreed, the brace on that pump was the only way to roll. That is also why I have not cancelled my brace adaptor back order with Brownells. It's good to have choices!! |

Just to clarify,
Ergo uses the castle nut to lock in the brace tube but needs no shim. Mesa uses a set screw and castle nut but needs a neutral shim. I ask because I jumped on one of the Suarez folding brace adapters before i figured out it needed a stamp. It will end up on the EE but i would like to brace this thing legally. So which one and why? |

I do not have a mesa Tac 13 to compare it to, but I have had at least 2 other Mesa adaptors in the recent past. This ergo one looks way better IN MY OPINION compared to what those were like. I remember having to shim the one for my Shockwave 14 because the buffer tube had a noticable angle with the ass going upward. The ergo is missing a QD sling pocket, but I never use that spot for an attachment point anyway. Even with ARs, I use the QD pocket on the stock/brace. I also am not a 1 point sling fan...for the record. If you want to use a one point sling, that may effect you. It is also missing a way to lock the buffer tube so it cannot rotate....above and beyond the castle nut. I have only shot a few quick rounds through it with the brace in place, so IF it rotates...and it may. I will simply drill and tap a hole from the bottom side and add a small button head cap screw. One shouldn't have to do this, but I seem to always be needing to do something to make most guns/accessories just the way I need them. I have a mill/drill press and proper tapping tools, so It will be easy peasy. My opion is all, but I really like my ergo adaptor. Oh, one other thing to note. If you use a magpul MIAD grip on it, you will notice that the grip itself has slight chamfers/tapers at the front...for comfort, I assume. With this, the adaptor where the front of the grip meets it is a little wider then that narrowed area of the grip. It isn't sharp or anything, just may be a pet peave for some. I ended up ordering a ergo flattop sure grip in grey...assuming that will fit perfectly, although I am not a big ergo grip fan, I will try it out. Should arrive in a few days. I am looking to add a front sling swivel in a "Better" spot. I like 2 point slings and when I use the way forward factory spot, the sling gets in the way of my left hand when accessing the forearm.
On my KSG and RDB bullpups, I added a QD pocket on the top rail, just in front of my RDS. This works pretty well actually. I would just buy the GG&G top rail, but I kinda want to keep this simple with no added sight..was just going to add a fiber optic slightly higher front bead/sight. Is there any vent rib side mounted QD socket that anyone is aware of? I have googled the $hit out of it with no luck. If I do ho with a top rail and a reddot, I wish they made one that extend a few inches forward of the receiver, would like to mount it little further forward, and then add a typical rail mounted QD sling pocket. Anyone have any ideas that I am not thinking of? I did see a universal vent rib mounted extend cantilever style rail that looks like it may fit the bill, but also afraid that how it mounts to the rib, that it may be a little hokey. I haven't even taken the gun apart yet. Maybe a noveske type QD pocket could fit somewhere on the side toward the rear of the forarm. I should look at that before doing anything. Just need to see if there is a usable spot that I can drill a 1/2" hole and clearance on the back for the backing plate. |

Got the Ergo today and bolted it up. Velcro side saddle, Vortex rds, TLR1-HL with pressure switch. I still have to find a sling I put away somewhere.
With its bigger 1100 brother
