It is easier for me to flip it safe with my trigger finger.

I am very picky about pistols, especially when it's subjective to me.

"Old" 16" on the left, new 11.5" on the right. This one will be kept in a KISS configuration.

It is a PSA but it's just a 1/7 Freedom mid length. I believe I picked it up late July or something like that.

My 1st SBR. It is a Spike's Florida hometown forum lower I assembled with a Spike's enhanced LPK.
The upper is also a Spike's 12.5" The red dot is from primary arms. I should have a chance to shoot it Thursday or Friday. I need to get a couple more YHM Quick disconnects.

I just moved the ACOG over to the 10.5" when I got the stamp, and re-zero'ed at the range, so I've only had it out to 50 yards on that rifle. Wish I knew. I did manage to (somehow ) shoot a .25" group with it when zero'ing, so it is a pretty accurate setup.

Farthest I shot with it before on my 16" midlength rifle was 175, so I've never actually gotten into the BDC on the thing.
Link Posted: 12/11/2014 7:23:47 PM EST
[#25]
I think the ACOG BDC's are calculated for a 14.5" M4 shooting m855.  Running the numbers through a ballistics calculator gives this result with M855:

RangeDrop

Range   14.5"    10.5"

0-1.4938-1.4927
50-0.17090.0062
100-0.00050.0055
150-1.1162-1.6796
200-3.6709-5.2630
250-7.8404-10.9923
300-13.8275-19.1548
350-21.8668-30.0839
400-32.2307-44.1655
450-45.2354-61.8435
500-61.2468-83.6258

So At 200 only 1.5" difference

At 12" difference at 400

10.5" seems to fall off after that, down to 22" difference at 500

Crappy Pic I just took cuz itz a pix thread:

Yeah, I did some googling after your question, and that lines up with what I was reading. They were saying to use the 300 yd BD for 400, 400 for 600, etc. Nice table though!

Hopefully I'm going to actually get my $150 Compact ACOG from the GD thread (5 week wait according to my receipt), and then I'll put that on the SBR since it's a lower power, and move the 4x back over to my middy. The low power makes more sense for the SBR, especially since there's no BDC on it.

No new pics yet of the SBR

ETA: They did cancel my $150 ACOG, so Im leaving the TA31 on there for the foreseeable future.

They seem to think that gives them street cred without actually earning it.

God I hope you are joking.

The thousands of rounds I put down range every year and the classes and competitions and actual training I do surely gives me "street cred". (Not that I really give a flying fuck what somebody thinks of me on the Internet, much less on Arfcom. Lol)

The lowers are painted because I buy sell and trade uppers so often, and paint degrades resale value for some. The lowers are mine forever, they do have my name on them after all.

Why am I even trying to justify myself to Arfcom? Jesus Christ I've lost it.

What would you say is the right barrel length for a mid length handguard?  Im thinking 10"??
Also, how is that front sight on?
Working on a build now, and getting close to Form 1...   So maybe magpul will come out with the SL mid length by the time im ready.

Crazy question, anyone here running an RMR on their SBR? I have one on the way and interested if its a good optic for a red dot for my own, so I 'm asking for advice and pics if possible.

...or should I just mill out a slide and join the red dot pistol club

I'd like to take one of his classes someday.

They seem to think that gives them street cred without actually earning it.

Why learn new skills when you can dress up and look like you have them?
