Walls are insulated, contain 1/2 inch rebar every six inches horizontally, hardware cloth screening, 5/8" OSB, amd finally panneling. Door is metal with a 1 1/2" hardboard bolted to it for extra rigidity. The "vault" is not fire proof, but it will stop a smash and grab! It's remains hidden by the metal cabinet, which has an aircraft quick pin securing it to the wall via the metal pipe liquid nailed into the wall. Keeps the metal cabinet from moving. The metal cabinet is on casters to ease movement.

Freakin' sweet.  Great idea.

Wow very nice with the hidden vault

Yeah that hidden room is definitely clever. I looked at the first picture and was thinking to myself, hhhmmmm those pad locks on that piece of tin aren't going to stop too much.... scroll down and BAM it hit me, well jee they don't have to stop too much. Steal a POS/non functional gun, if they don't figure out about the hidden door you're gtg. I'm having so much trouble finding a safe, let alone one I can afford. Something like this might work slightly better.... pair with insurance of course.

This was my motivation for building the vault. There was an unused space under the stairs just begging to be used, and so.............................................

Thankks for the good words all!

Are the funrooms gunrooms with the safe-like doors encased in metal?

If you are basically adding a reinforced door to a wooden/drywall room, that is hardly secure.  Just cut through the walls...

I assume some of these have addressed this?  Some probably have not.

I suppose some are built from scratch...which would allow concrete and all sorts of other reinforcement.

One of the best collections I've ever seen, although I don't like the horseshoe wall mounts.  If I can ever find larger versions of these pics I will edit this post for better clarity.

The only thing I know about that collection is that in the next to last picture, the enormous bolt gun at the very bottom is a .510 Whisper.

Unfortunately that's the best I can do because it's in a hallway and I can't get a good angle. It was just storage under the stairs with a folding door.

Those particular shaped Coke bottles make great Molotov Cocktails - so I'm told.  Get a great grip on them.
I keep the Mexican Coke (no HFCS) bottles.

so you pull out the molding and then yank on a dowel rod? i'm really intrigued

Yep, I had to mount the molding/trim like that so it would clear the shelf when it is opened.

oh ok, I think I got you here, so it's just a shelf on hinges, but the hinges are covered by the retractable molding? I'm trying to figure out how i'm going to tun a closet under my stairs into one of these
