Yes I have used the BUIS in this configuration and they work great.  Actually shot a match yesterday and probably used the irons for 60% of the targets.

Feeling kinda inadequate after that last room but here goes. My 13yo Son and I made this out winter project, the space really filled up quickly when we started adding the benches and the safe but it gets the job done and we get to spend many hours of quality time out there reloading and building ARs. The space was a storage room attached to the garage, we insulated and added baseboard heat so it remains a constant even temp and the humidity is very low.

Might I recommend a book for your shelf?

How the hell did you work the hinge on the middle shelf? Or does it just push back and slide? Pics?

LOVE the idea!

Very nice work. We need more pics of this. MS Paint schematic...something. How did you get clearance for the door to swing and not hit the other shelf?

Sort of like this? Or am I way off?

How big is your hidden room square footage wise?

How do you keep it secured?
I have a 10x20 shed outside that I envisioned this type set up in..but my concern is how to secure it?

There are a few security measures in place for my gun room. First I live on 40 acres in the middle of no where and no one knows what the building is because its inside a privacy fence. My inlaws live next door, they are retired and always home.We have dogs. The building has multiple security systems and lastly the a potential theif would have to be really brave to approach my house as my home sits in the middle of a large pasture with 100 yards of open ground to cover just to get to the fence, dogs,in laws, security systems, and the 12 gauge shot gun by the back door.

My setup would not be optimum in a populated area.

That is the deadbolt.  It's a Lockey M210 mechanical push button deadbolt.  I didn't want to always have my keys and I didn't want to deal with batteries.

Lock

This is a gun room found by the Mexican authorities in Juarez, just across the US/Mexico border.  Apparently it had a hidden entrance inside the home gym of the homeowner.  Pretty nice haul.

Matt_B, I see you went with Wall Control, Inc for setting up your gun room.  They've got great stuff, and that's who I intend to buy from once I get my house built.  How do you like it?  Was it easy to install?  Is it sturdy?

The Wall Control panels and accessories have been very impressive so far and I like the variety of things they offer (shelfs of various depths, bottle holders, paper towel holders, etc). I did end up buying some black hooks for pliers at Sears though because I didn't see anything I like from Wall Control. They were very easy to install because you can't just screw it right into the studs vs. having to hang 1X4s for traditional pegboard. The reason I bought them was because they will hold a lot more weight and won't bend, warp or break like than traditional pegboard.

Very nice! I'm hoping to build something like what you got. What are the dimensions of your building.
