welcome to Anfield.  who are you again?

ps
turn the volume up.  from the crowd reaction you'd think Millie scored.

Lol. My older sister was an Aggie fan (even taught some courses at ATM), so there was no way I was going to be an Aggie.

That said, politically I’m much much much more closely aligned with aggies.

Great, great win for Liverpool today, especially with Napoli and Red Star drawing in their game.  Really great to see them turn Neymar into a non factor and even cope with Mbappe's speed (as much as anyone can).

Mbappe is a wildcard. Luckily Robbo and TAA kept Neymar in their pockets for most of the the night

As far as the Messi/Ronaldo debate... I started watching Bein Sports to watch Ronaldo, but keep seeing this little dude from Barca who was simply mind blowing with his skill.

For me, Ronaldo is one of the top 5 (arguably top 3) players of all time. I’m blessed to have been able to see him play.

Messi? G.O.A.T. imho

The fact that I’ve been able to see them both play and follow their careers? Ridiculous.

Unfortunately, beIN lost Serie A this season to ESPN. It looks like there's a match or two on free TV and the rest are on the pay ESPN+ streaming service.

I enjoyed that, too, and love Milner's work rate, but sometimes you're the windshield; sometimes you're the bug:

that same game against City resulted in Milner, Silva, Fernando, and Kompany all getting panna'd/megged.
Silva's happened so fast I don't think he knew how it happened.

Fernando at 1:31, Silva at 3:03, etc...   who else has a nearly 4 minute video of classy gates?

The salad days of free telecasts of the top European Leagues plus the Champions' League and Europa League are gone. Last season NBCSN started it by adding the pay to play Gold Package for many of each weekend's matches which were formerly all broadcast on one of the NBC networks or free streaming.

This year it's gotten worse. FOX still has the Bundesliga but either lost or chose not to pursue the CL and EL. Now only the Champions' League is on TNT broadcast TV - two games each on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. All the other games are on a new pay streaming service called B/R. There are NO Europa League games on free TV. If you want to watch EL, buy B/R.

Sports Illustrated Story on TNT & B/R

SI seems to have killed the link. Here's the crucial paragraph:

"TNT is airing 100 fewer Champions matches than FOX Sports showed last year (46 vs. 146). The rest are available on B/R Live, either for $2.99/match, $9.99/month or $79.99/year. That’s obviously annoying. In fact, right now it’s probably the biggest third-party sports package exclusively tied to a digital subscription service. But there’s a reason for that. Because the games are played in the middle of the American workday, a streaming solution built around mobile viewing makes some sense. Plus, while growing, soccer is still more of a hardcore attraction than a mass market play. Turner has also been clear about its plans since it acquired the rights last year. B/R Live was built to host these games; the games were purchased to launch the service."

beIN Sports also either lost or ditched Serie A. Now ESPN has the rights. They do one or two matches a weekend but guess what? - you can buy something called ESPN+ to stream many more Serie A games.

I understand it's a $$$ business. Get people used to something then once they're hooked, make them pay for the same level of coverage they were getting for free. Nonetheless, they are still dealing with a very slowly growing fringe fanbase that's never going to take off and come close to achieving the market of the US Big 3 sports + the NHL.

I'm not ready to pay yet. They will find out soon enough how many are.

BTW, today PAOK 0 Chelsea 1; Arsenal 4 Vorskla 2

incidentally, from a player perspective i wondered why neymar took such a careless/big first touch; he's usually so tightly controlled on the ball, but the first view above helps explain it.
milner doesn't run with the give-n-go PSG player (#14, i don't know his name) -- milner lets #14 run in behind him and instead steps up into Neymar's attempted dribble.
the ball is a yard away from the still-accelerating Neymar and i don't think he expected at all milner to be in his face; if you play against teams that continually back up into a block, then defenders aggressively, well, defending might come as a surprise.

milner on his part has to either win the ball or foul neymar; it's binary at that point.  if neymar slips by it will be a very pacey 3 v 1 against TAA.   (there is yet another PSG player square of neymar)
but the surprise factor of the english midfielder stepping towards him rather than backing away catches neymar unaware, and he probably should have bailed because he was never going to win a head-on 50:50 against milner.

It will all come around there are several very reliable very easy ways to find websites that offer multiple feeds of all games.  Legal, illegal, gray area I don't know and I don't care. The media companies have done it to themselves.

I paid for the fox soccer but the quality was such dog shit and they couldn't even bother to have the game time on the screen.  So I started looking around and in 5 minutes I realized I could cancel and still watch everything.

ETA, if you buy a VPN I pay $30 a year you can often watch games live on other countries networks for free.

Shaqiri was too much for Southampton to manage. Klopp has some really great options at midfield. Still want to see what Fabinho can bring.

I had doubts when I saw Keita riding the pine on Tues but Winaldjum, Hendo, and Milnerinho were very good.

I’m ditching DirecTV for fuboTV.  For 40.00 a month you get EPL, Serie A, Bundeslega, Champions League, Europa League, MLS, and a couple more.  That also includes thirty hours of DVR service.

I’d have to get ESPN + to fill in the gap for the domestic cups, (FA and Carabao/League) or maybe just watch those matches at Haymaker.

I was surprised to see the Power Cube not return to the game after being too much for Southampton to handle but I get it.

as a liverpool fan, i would happier to see Pogba go.
but in the interest of watching good football, Moan-rinho has to go(*).
holy crap watching Utd for the last year has been painful.

why the fuck would you tell your US$100M investment that he's never going to be captain again -- and repeat it in public?
fine, you want to strip him down -- do it in your office, do it in the locker room, but don't announce it to the fucking press.

jose has his finger firmly on the self-destruct button, the only question now is how much damage he is going to do to the hull of HMS Man Utd.

question to Utd fans: is Utd just too big of an ask from a coaching standpoint?  does the shadow of SAF create too much pressure?

Moreno is odd. He's definitely out classed on the team but stays around.

Good to see Lovren on the field after his WC performance.

He needed redemption after that open goal miss.

This game has been a tale of two 30 minute halves thus far.  Reds backups are finally settling in.

ETA: And Hazard owns the final 20 minutes and wins them the game.

Hopefully it's a different result Saturday...I'd take that trade.
