Boker has a "boker plus"(ie import, probably Chinese) hollow handle knife for $100. Mine is on it's way

According to internet lore, Boker's "imported" knives are Taiwanese-made - and generally pretty decent quality.

when the Buckmaster #184 was new - 1985 - Cost was $125.

What's in the extra pouch, not the bottom one, I don't have that pouch

Google image search confirms most if not all came with just one pouch

yea, it seems that how many pouches that came with the knife varied. it was just a empty pouch. I have nothing in it.

I have one of those I bought from the PX at Ft. Lenardwood back in 1990. I have actually used it some, bent the tip a little prying on something.

Man, those ads were like a wishbook for me.

I must have gone through 5 of those craptastic knives before I was 12 years old.

I stabbed my own hand accidentally with one of those 27 years ago, still have the scar. It was one of those times where it was bad enough that I had to tell mom what happened.

I bought one of the cheap ones at a gun show years ago.  I was 14 years old and they sold it to me no questions asked, my dad was pissed.  Had the exposed compass in the pommel and survival supplies in the handle.  Broke the wire limb cutter on a branch almost immediately.  I think the blade was pot metal and would not sharpen, the sheath was pleather with a stone pouch.  Terribly awesome for $10.00

I was too poor to buy one of those fancy Rambo knives.  I had to settle for an old Case knife almost identical to this one.  My adventure time load out was pretty much that knife, a soft plastic military canteen, and a Smith and Wesson model 10.  Lots of good times in the woods with that setup.  I suppose if I knew I was going out the door to never return again I'd take the Case with me still.  It's down in the gun safe and the canteen is hanging on a hook nearby.

I believe I'll order one and have it shipped to my friend's house.

Then I'm gonna print that ad out, give it to my kid, let him convince me to let him order one, take him to the post office to buy a money order, put it all in an envelope and mail it off to the same friend.

After two months I'll tell my friend to mail the knife on to us in a plain box with no packaging or paperwork.

God I loved that knife when I was 5.

Mine had two as well.  Longer one on top, shorter compass pouch underneath it.  I can't remember what was in the longer one.

A few more pics...ok, just pimping my ego, lolol...I never do that, though, so I should be allowed this one time over this innocent joy, right?

Ohhhhh, the hours spent trying to sharpen these things!  I might take my work sharp to them, just for shits and giggles.

Btw, the survival ones claim 420 stainless...hahaha

That is a 10 year old boy's master key to destructionville.  The old ones even had matches. A better toy was never made!

I pounded in quite a few tent stakes with the compass, pruned my mothers rosebush with the saw and used the matches to melt some army guys and model planes. After I destroyed my mom's bush I never saw that knife again.

We all made behind-the-back rigs for ours after Crocodile Dundee hit the theaters.

Re-sheathing it didn't end well.
