Yeah, I didn't quite get Captain Phasma either. In the lead up to the movie's release to theater they kept showing her and I kept thinking she was going to be this bad ass Dark Trooper who tore shit up. Then I saw the movie and was completely let down and disappointed in that she served virtually no point in the movie. I hope they develop her character more. I mean the unnamed trooper with shield and PR-24 style baton thing who went up against an inexperienced Finn wielding a lightsaber he clearly had no clue how to use was way cooler than Phasma. Oh yeah, and Boba Fett is fucking awesome. Y'all are just jealous at how awesome Mandalorians are. FN-2199. According to the official backstory he was a member of Finn's fire team. I kind of figured he had some history with FN-2187 but wasn't sure. |

We bought the 'Target Exclusive' edition which comes with extra bonus content. Of ARFCOM interest, one of the videos called 'Inside the Armory' is an inside look at designing the weapons of The Force Awakens.
The other video is a interview with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. ETA: You need an account with Disney Movies Anywhere to watch them. |

3. Kylo not even close to the evil of vader That's kind of the point of his character....he's still young, conflicted, he hasn't become vader yet but he wants to. I thought it was the first interesting villain in the SW universe since Vader, it was nice to see a villain that isn't sure he has it in him. Made his turn more emotional, more tragic. Kylo's voice with mask on was good, creepy Didn't like his voice at all the first time around. Watched it again. Changed my mind. The voice worked. Also, what's the big deal with Captain Phasma? Is she supposed to be some bad ass? (Which she certainly didn't convince me she was.) Or just a administrative appointee who oversees the Storm Troopers? Her importance was not particularly clear to me. She's the new Boba Fett...great armor, hype, and totally fucking useless. Supposedly she gets a bigger role in the next movie. I agree her character was a total let down, but how is she in the next movie if she got thrown down the garbage chute only a little while before they blew up the Death Star III? Surely they don't still put doors in the bottom |

That will make the wait for Episode 8 a little more tolerable |

Just rented it on Redbox. Will watch tomorrow before I go to work.

I watched it again last night and noticed the Indian Jones theme song playing for a few seconds while Rae and Finn are flying the Millennium Falcon for the first time (during the chase).

My wife and I watched TFA last night. V-e-r-y depressing, seeing how Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hammil have aged and realizing that we're older than they are.
We both agree that the years have been much kinder to Harrison Ford than to Carrie Fisher. Neither of us recognized Mark Hammil until he was handed the light saber at the end of the movie. Ford has been very active in movies over the years, so the effects of his aging have been exposed gradually. Like Sean Connery and fine wine, he has improved with time. I don't think TFA would have been nearly as successful without him. We thought the parallels with the original Star Wars were well handled and provided a much needed link to it, hopefully doing damage control of the carnage caused by Episodes I, II, and III.. |

I'm re-watching it while exercising with subtitles on ... There are a couple nuances so far that I didn't catch either time in the theater. Like during her vision, Obi-Wan shouts "REY!" for example. I didn't realize that was Obi-Wan. |

my parents took me to see Star Wars multiple times when it first came out. I put TFA on for my now 70 year old mother and she was cheering when Rei was fighting Ren. when it was done she looked over at me and said, 'is there another one?!'

Just red boxed the movie for my parents. I saw it in theatres but they didn't.
They really enjoyed it, but I had to keep explaining stuff as they don't understand the prequels are now garbage. I'm convinced Rey is Luke's daughter, yes it's too obvious but still... And I agree that the scene where she closes her eyes and then became a badass was immensely stupid. |

When Kylo was mind-interrogating her, she was able to flip it on him and search his thoughts. I figured that, during the fight when they were face to face, she was able to somehow draw some of his fighting skills in the same way she got into his head earlier. |

I'm re-watching it while I exercise and that scene was on today - Kylo says "Don't be afraid, I feel it too" - clearly referring to the "awakening" in the Force. And later he tells Snoke that she's more powerful than she realizes. It became much more apparent in subsequent viewings to me. |

wasn't as awful as the prequels (though the lucasjunk was at least somewhat imaginative). |

I'll try to find and post it, but I read somewhere that once Snoke completes Ren's training, he will be much more powerful than Rey and she will need everything she can get to keep up with him

I mean, we didn’t establish a romance in seven; we never played it that way. Daisy and I, we’re friends. Finn and Rey – they’re just friends. Finn is a storm trooper, so he doesn’t really know what’s going on. So the romance thing is something that’s going to be interesting in the next installment. It’s not going to go the way you think it’s going to go. -John Boyega View Quote .....sounds like Finn and Poe are going to be getting it on (has Disney ever made a LGBT film?) |
