So the other day on my way home from work I picked up an older Remington 700 Barreled action in 30-06. Got it for a song and was thinking about making it into a Fallout: 4/Fallout: NV hunting rifle. So there are some things I need help with.
1. What optic for a Fallout rifle? 2. What should I use for the metal wire wrap on it? 3. Magpul bottom metal? Fixed mag bottom metal? I got a line on a cheap worn wood stock that has no cracks. |

You got a picture of what this fallout rifle looks like? Fallout is a video game right? I'll try to google it.

Thank you. Uploading pics from my iPotato is almost impossible

Cool idea. Just watch out since it is high on the action points.
I want a Gobi Campaign scout rifle. :) |

How are you going to do the magazine? Make a faux mag? View Quote |

You (in particular) can't seriously expect much help from here

Not quite sure yet. I am going to try and get as close as possible. I will likely go with a 5rnd metal AICS mag of some manufacture. Apply some tape and maybe light grey paint to "battle wear" it to match the esthetics View Quote |

After this it's a functional firing Han Solo blaster then a storm trooper blaster. So get it out of your system now. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Well I will get as close in feel as I can. The logistics behind stocking .303 is pretty poor for me. Better off sticking to a more readily available cartridge I already own. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I would go to a pawn shop and find an older fixed power scope on the cheap. Hit up a craft store for the wire, maybe a brass or copper craft wire. Duct tape and sleeping bag pad for cheek riser. Old leather belt or seat belt for sling. Hammer a couple of bottle caps in the stock somewhere. Post pics of progress.

Do they make thick copper craft wire? The wire on the stock in the pictures is almost pencil thick. Hmmmm. I was thinking mousepad for the cheekpiece since I have a spare mousepad my dog chewed on laying around in a box. View Quote ETA solid wire, might be tougher to find as scrap tho', maybe copper grounding strap? |

Never though if doing an apocalypse bolt gun build...hmmm.....I am inspired......should be cheap and easy
|

I'm just sitting here waiting for a FO4 Gauss gun......
Really though that's cool, I've been thinking about the FO4 homemade rifle in 45 being a cool project (if I ever had the time) |

Cool project idea, OP.
I'm kicking around the idea of getting a beat to shit flea market bolt gun and doing a 22lr replica of the Ratslayer. |

I was thinking of aluminum grounding wire, the type we used to have for TV antennas. It's thick, but not stupid thick. View Quote Also for optic I was thinking an oldschool Weaver K6 or something similar looking in 6x. But then I looked at the picture posted earlier in the thread and there are definitely pronounced turrets on that optic. So I think I could get away with something more modern and easy to find, like a cheap SWFA 6x or something similar. There is a matte silver leupold 4-12 at a local pawn shop for under 2 bills. Not the biggest fan of matte silver but if I airbrushed it properly with black paint it could look like the black finish is wearing off to show the matte silver underneath. |
