OK so this guy , who has "survival skills" and is an "excellent shot" drives his jeep into a secluded area near a swamp....executes an ambush on cops at their barracks... Gets away cleanly...gets back to his truck, drops the casings that he collected from the shooting into his jeep...then gets his jeep stuck.  but not just stuck...half submerged.... And close enough to the road for a pedestrian to find......  I feel like I'm reading a JACK REACHER novel.

Or this airsoft playing nut saved his brass from every shooting trip because he thought he might someday have both a life and a reloading set up. So it just happend to be in the car/house the same night he decided to go shoot at some state troopers.

The brass he left in his jeep probably wasn't the brass from the scene.

I am guessing it was just brass rolling around from past shooting sessions.

His only real big mistake was getting stuck.

He should have driven that route through the swamp before to make sure he wouldn't....maybe he did though...maybe it rained and built up.

Either way shit happens with the best of plans, which he may or may not have had.

He also left his ID, but maybe he didn't care. They would have figured it out without that anyway after getting the jeep.

It's not that I think it's all a setup...it's just so script like.   Life stranger then fiction.

Or maybe he is burried about 10 feet deep somewhere and two rouge smart people took out some police to distract away from a bank heist close by. If he was a loud mouth on the net, It is highly likely he bragged about the AK and .308 he takes everywhere with him in his jeep.

but more likely this guy is a nut and he decided to crack towards his favorite people to blame for his nuttyness. I am still wondering if he was alone tho.

The older I get the more I understand it's better to make them serve life than kill them.

A little voice somewhere in my head always wants revenge and blood but this scum bag coward is 31 and he's going to get fucked for 40 + years in a jail cell.

Take him alive for science and study him.

One would think that with such limited info that comments, about people who took and oath to the constitution and go out and put their lives on the line every day, would be pushed to the back of that posters to do list. However, after seeing who the poster was and what his history has been here concerning his posts towards LE it didn't really surprise me.

What I find funny is that you think his comment is perfectly fine and mine is out of line. I guess you must have short memory issues. You must have forgot how many people on this site have been banned for threats to shoot LEOs, kill LEOs, and harm their families. But please go on and tell me about how one is ok and the other is not.

It is only disappointing to you because it shut down the argument that LE on this board start issues on this board in threads before anyone dare do it. That is what the conversation at the time was about. Once pointed out that on the first page there was a non LEO member, who in the past has shown irrational ramblings about LEOs, starting it up first.

Let me get this in real quick

I find it greatly humorous that you think the norm is LE shooting other LE as opposed to scumbags shooting LE. Please tell me that you are not that naive.

You used that same dumb excuse to justify yourself in the now locked "no knock warrant" thread.  Pretty disappointing too.  This shooting occurred at the State Police barracks, and it's not unreasonable for someone to think the shooting might have happened inside the barracks, especially only 10 posts into the thread where details are sparse.  Of course though, to insinuate that a LEO would shoot another LEO is utterly ridiculous, right?

You still can't admit that if the shooting had occurred inside the barracks there could have been a chance, the slightest of chances, it was another law enforcement officer?  That idea is completely impossible to you?  The guy's very next post was
Meh, I don't really care who shot them, just wondering out loud about a possibility since it was described as a (somewhat?) secure facility

Trooper shooting suspect is marksman who 'doesn't miss,' dad says
BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. — Hundreds of law enforcement officers fanned out across the dense northeastern Pennsylvania woods Tuesday as they tracked a survivalist with two high-powered rifles and a grudge against police, identified as the gunman who killed one trooper and injured another in a late-night ambush outside a state police barracks.

Eric Matthew Frein, 31, of Canadensis, is "extremely dangerous" and residents in the area should be alert and cautious, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said at a news conference in which he revealed the suspect's name.

Authorities were led to Frein after a resident who was walking his dog in a wooded area two miles from the barracks Monday spotted a 2001 Jeep lightly submerged in a pond and called 911. Police found shell casings inside the vehicle that matched those found at the shooting scene, Noonan said.

Investigators also found Frein's Social Security card, a Pennsylvania Game Commission range permit, camouflage face paint, a black hooded sweatshirt, two empty rifle cases and military gear, Noonan said.

Frein's father, Michael Frein, a retired major in the U.S. Army with 28 years of service, told police that his son is an excellent marksman who "doesn't miss," according to a police affidavit released Tuesday.

Reports say in a retention pond.  Probably wanted it to sink to hide evidence, but the water wasn't deep enough.  I agree that if that pond had been deep enough, it could be months before it was discovered and he could have gotten anywhere.  As it was, that pond is located such that the Jeep could not be seen from the air, due to heavy tree cover.  All the helicopters flying over could not have spotted the Jeep and it was pure chance that the dog walker spotted the top of the Jeep in the water.

Meanwhile, how long before it's "discovered" that this murderous Army veteran is suffering from PTSD and therefore all veterans must be disarmed?

Might be interesting to see what his guys military service history is.
That's the part that doesn't make sense.  If he used a brass catcher and simply drove away from the scene, how would the police know it was him?  Either he wants to be caught, at which point don't ditch the car, or he doesn't, in which case don't leave a car full of evidence in a pond.

Sure, why not?  Pennsylvania is the "Keystone State."  Very good gun laws (for the time being) but with shitties like Philly and Pittsburgh, I'm sure there is enough possiblity to sway the pendulum towards anti-2A.  All these things need are a good "trigger" (pun unintended) to start the ball rolling.  And as the Keystone state, when PA falls, so will more states fall in domino like fashion.

What's more heart wrenching than a family man cop senselessly gunned down doing his job?

The powers that be (CIA or whomever runs these black psyops things) always find some "loner nutjob" to do the dirty work.

If you shoot a couple of cops then they will keep looking for you until they find you. Unless you can flee to another country that won't send you back or you have a pretty serious support network that will keep you hidden. Since this guy planned to do this if he should know that this can only end with him dead or in prison forever. He probably has this planned as a Kamikaze sort of thing, but who knows.

I don't know the area but if you were him and you were planning  on doing something like this heading out into the woods might make a lot of sense. It's reasonable to assume the cops are going to figure out who he is pretty quickly because they are going to put all their resources on it. Police are used to finding guys driving around in cars and hiding in buildings. Most spend a lot less time chasing criminals around in the woods.

Usually these guys aren't that bright so hopefully he goes down without too much of a fight.

LOL. When you deal with criminals long enough, you come to the obvious conclusion that they are morons. This is especially true of the self proclaimed criminal 'experts' and 'survivalists,' who see themselves as Tier 1 operators. Guarantee you that this guy was some weekend survivalist that thought he was smarter than the average man. An educated guess on my part was this 'expert' decided he was going to get away undetected by driving on trails so as to stay off the main roads and, of course, with his headlights off for the same reason. All sneaky squirrel like a good Tier One operator would..... You know, because he's smarter than his peers and he's a 'survivalist'. Unfortunatley, without nods, he managed to drive himself into a pond where he gets stuck, panicks and just takes off (Leaving everything behind)...

Don't ever underestimate the stupidity of criminals.

All of these posts (from just the first 3 pages) are people taking part in a rational discussion spurred on my that comment.  Are they all anti-cop because they didn't automatically condemn the post as anti-cop?

Edit: It's especially telling when Citadel-SC apologizes for initially reacting negatively to the post because he missed that it happened at the barracks.

Its entirely possible he could have made a clean break and never been identified.

If he left no physical evidence, and hadn't got stuck as long as he never talked about it to anyone he could have escaped.

It worked for the guy who ambushed the cop in Kentucky a year or two ago. At least so far...

Going into the woods is smart, but I would be concerned about FLIR and thermal.

BTW where do you think the police got the idea that he had been making threats to kill LE and acts of mass murder? I bet he had plenty of accounts at multiple sites.

40xb, later in the thread I also wondered about it being jihadists or a SC / militia type (and I've never gotten a speeding ticket from a jihadist).

This thread makes feel a little like Voldemort, like no one dares mention my name or I might appear.

Very very wrong. My feelings towards the military are highly complimentary. Those guys rock.

Pretty sure my past posts on the subject show that clearly.

the referenced post wasn't meant as disrespectful. kind of odd that SC-Citadel seems to have understood that and you did not. i just thought it was weird to shoot cops at their station, which are usually fairly secure. like i said, i speculated about other possibilities later in the thread as more information came out.

and how is being shot by a regular old SC less tragic than being shot by a fellow trooper? either way, victim is still dead, wife is still without a husband and children without a father.

Oh, it's a joke?  A joke commonly tossed out in murdered-cop threads?  I really don't see the humor in it.  Maybe you can post it again later when you feel the time is "right."

BTW, unless you think that this site advocates killing LE and acts of mass murder why/how the fuck would you (even as a lame-ass joke) attribute something that vile to this site & its members.    That really sucks.

The other guy who didn't edit his post probably thinks you're funny.  Is he a cop too?  Sad shit.

Here's a mirror for you.  Your own words.

It certainly isn't the first thing I would post in a fresh thread, about a shot cop, with no info or intel. Most people have the common decency to post this

Very low but I know that's what you hoping for.

Meh, I don't really care who shot them, just wondering out loud about a possibility since it was described as a (somewhat?) secure facility

Sorry, I missed the barracks part.  I thought this was out on a call or something....hence my response.

I thought about it and I don't like this one bit. Guy leaves his DL, SS card, and brass? I don't know many people that routinely carry their SS card around with them. I almost would put money on him having another identity ready to go. Plus he still has at least one weapon with him right? Nobody just walks around after a shooting open carrying a rifle. I think he had another vehicle in another location or an accomplice in a vehicle and was long gone. Either that or he is still in the woods, but I doubt it.

On some level he thought it out enough to execute and not get caught yet. We have a guy more than likely armed with a long gun that has disappeared. People tend to not do that in the woods in the days of FLIR. He's either in the bottom of the pond, long gone, or someone is hiding him. My guess, if he isn't already dead somewhere, is that he either won't be found at all or he will get ratted out by someone. This wasn't some hand flapper going into an elementary school, this guy had an actual plan that included escape without detection. He's already fucked up and they found the jeep, but he probably expected them to find it at some point anyway. I'll be surprised if they find him alive within 100 miles of the shooting.

ETA: My prediction: He gets caught trying to get a hotel room or similar using a fake name and somebody recognizes him.

I think you and I have a different understanding of FLIR's capabilities. I would think the woods would be exactly where one would like to be if being sought by people with FLIR on aircraft.

I don't care. It was a shitty thing to say right off the bat. For all I know he changed his tune between post 1 and 2 because he knew that starting that type of crap in a fallen officer thread was going to cause him issues.

Go look at his posts on pages 4-6 or so. He goes right back to his natural posting style finding something wrong with how cops do this that or the other when one of their brothers was murdered and another one critically wounded. I guarantee you that he would not talk that way if this happened with a story in the military and it were soldiers who were shot.

Just because it happened at the barracks still doesn't mean it was a LEO. All the departments around me do not have secured parking lots and any joe blow could drive up and start shooting. Remember signs and gun laws don't stop criminals.
But it was okay to call the rest of us cop killers
