I believe Trey Gowdy is doing the right thing in attempting to bring her to account but the investigation has been so politicized as to lose all meaning as far as joe mainstreet is concerned. But then she is part of the same crowd that traded five Taliban terrorist leaders for one mealy army deserter, and even that is no longer being talked about.

Great movie. Special effects were a bit over the top but that is the reputation of the director. Car's explode and go flying from 40mm rounds, people go flying after getting shot, etc.
They really depict the CIA station chief as arrogant, foolish, and useless. The contractors were obviously not big fans of his. I wonder if he was that bad or if he was just going along with the program from higher up. From what I have read there was no help to send because there were no military assets close enough. The Ambassador was in a very bad neighborhood far from any help. He knew that and had asked for more security. But that wasn't the optics Obama or Clinton since they were the ones who pushed the effort the overthrow Qaddafi and destabilize the country. |

The one-liners in the movie were pretty hilarious, too. "You're gonna fight a holy war in shorts? Strong move." 
Took me awhile to recognize that Tonto was "Porn Stache" from Orange is the New Black and Nicky Sabotka from The Wire. Dude cracks me up. |

I normally don't like these types of movies but this one was pretty good. Chief of Station reminded me of a career DoS guy, not OGA. I wasn't in the loop on this but have been before on things similar and there's no way a limited Assault force is deploying in there without Intel. The type of intel required would have taken days, not the hours required. These types of activities are ongoing around the globe....this one just went south. Those boys seemed to have earned their pay though. |

Fantastic movie.
Watched it twice this weekend. I bought the digital copy on Vudu and will buy a hard copy blueray so I can give my sons a copy. Very intense. Wife loved it also. |

I also read the book, and in a rare exception, I believe that the movie told the story better. "Bob" needs to be publicly identified. My instinct is that the CIA formally recognized these guys because of the tenacity they displayed which resulted in all of those agency employees being saved from certain death. Normally that's not the case. Some of the reasons are deniability but there's also caps on the manning of GOV agencies. You just can't grow an agency because it's convenient. So the "work around" is contract hires that can be fired without explanation when the budget gets tight. Try firing an actual GS employee... In terms of economics CTRs are cheap. The rule of thumb is that a GOV employee costs uncle Sugar 300% of their salary over the life of their employment. A CTR on the other hand costs about 200%. CTRs can also provide very specific talent for very specific missions....that talent may not reside in the GOV, with the exception of special units and they're currently tasked to the max.

Question for .mil guys or anyone who knows about mortars. Why was GSR able to determine that the attack had been planned weeks in advance because of mortar accuracy? Why couldn't it have been the little car the drove up and possible got coordinates from their phone?
And if true, that means a) the bad guys knew about the "secret" outpost and b) planned the whole thing way in advance. ? Obviously the next question is why did the white house blame it on a muslim youtube video if the mortar thing proves it was pre-meditated? |

Did you notice they made a point of showing that only 2 Delta boys showed up in Tripoli, and then when they greater the Cheif, they said "we are tasked with sensitive document destruction"? It seemed to be made a very pointed stab at someone. They were there for the documents, not so much to save anyone. At the end, the C130 shows up to pick up the bodies and it's a Libyan flagged bird......he says.."still, no Americans"
Someone should hang.

I meant bad neighborhood as in the country and really that entire part of the world. Any place without a functioning government is a very bad neighborhood in my book. Particularly any area with a large muslim population and ineffective or non exist law and order. You can guarantee the criminal element is a serious danger but once you add hostile militias or insurgents into the mix you had better be ready for trouble. I'm not a security expert but if you are going to Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, etc you be very serious about your security. |

I bought it on Amazon last week and have watched it three times so I understood who was who and who was where. I ordered three hard copies today. One for myself, one for my son, and one for a friend of mine.
Like guns762 already said, someone should hang for that shit.
