Tell me you've never owned a Rover without actually telling me.

Inevitably it will suffer numerous problems and be traded off after 3 years for 15-20k, a sure sign of quality. Do yourself a favor- buy a used one, fix it up, then pay to keep it on the road until it pisses you off enough to sell it. You'll save a substantial amount of money doing this and learn the same lesson.

Or don't. Rovers out their owners better than almost any other vehicle.

ETA: I wish this was an exaggeration. After driving tens of thousands of individual cars...it's not.

Tell me more. I've owned three Rover's and a shop that specializes in Rover. I'm sure you know something don't.

They needed a dose of "simplification" added to their ideas for the new Defender.  I guess they just couldn't help but to spill over some Range Rover tech when the Defender should be at the opposite end of it. They are also using a rebranded Fiat Multiair system to actuate the valves. Former Land Rover/ Jag dealer parts dude.

I watched an interesting video years ago where a guy bought a range rover with a bumper to bumper warranty. In six years he had $17,000 of warranty repairs done. What a vehicle.

No. NO. NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Defenders are utilitarian farm vehicles, not some fancy, luxury status symbol. They are to be slow, muddy, oily and driving on back country roads with a wet dog in the back.

Nope, but kinda on the right track. FWIW i haven't driven this rover, just every other (ETA "fake") one, and they're all terrible.  Anyone who disagrees is likely a trophy wife who has never dealt with the bills. A real Defender I'm good with, relax purists.

JLR gave them a model worth $17k more than the (2nd) broke dick one they bought to try and shut them up, too.

The unfortunate thing is Land Rover could have capitalized on the market dominated by the wrangler and now Bronco.  When the Defender 110 came out in 1993 and defender 90 in 1994, the Wrangler was a shitty leaf sprung POS.  The Defender looked better and had superior off road capability.  They thought figuring out airbags was just too much trouble for stay in the NAS market so they bailed.  In the subsequent years Wranglers became a vehicle that are in high demand and hold crazy resale value like few others.  I'd go with a G wagen now myself.  I love it when something is so successful and the body, frame and suspension hasn't changed in 20+ years.

Nitra makes all kinds of business sense, but the move alienated what little care for the marque I carried. Still enjoy my Series trucks, and tho I was never a fan of the Defender, JLR finally succeeded in losing me fully.

Cautiously optimistic, at least construction and visions correct. JLR played this poorly and soon will pay some price. We'll find out how seriously soon.

$65k. . .Looks  better.

Thats the one I lust after right now. Hoping I can get one when they release in the states. the overhead switch panel is dope as fuck!

I have to say, I finally got to really off road the Disco 1 about a week ago (for a week). I took it places my old Toyota truck would not go. It climbs like a goat in low diff lock.

I'd buy a reservation sooner than later, then. With a entirely new operation, in this supply chain, I'm not expecting an abundance, or a lack of demand.

W463 had a great run from 90-18. Kinda sad to see IFS, and doubt the Gen 2 goes almost 30 without change. I'm not sure it'll go near 30 at all
