Quoted: Buy a Glock in .40 S&W. I suggest a G35 so you get a longer barrel. G24 if you can find one. Put in a .357 Sig barrel. Same mags, extractor everything. You can even get an extra round of .357 Sig in the .40 mags. I have a factory .357 Sig barrel for my G23. It’s amazing how different the shooting experience is. As others stated, the high velocity is an awesome thing. Would love to have an MP5 clone chambered in it. Quoted: One reason is that 9x19 cartridges work so much better through a double column magazine. In addition they are shorter than .38 Super cartridges, so less difficult for most shooters to handle a double column magazine pistol. Now, 357 SIG is short, and works well in double column magazines, but it came to the party a little late. Economics and ergonomics both favor 9x19, and ballistics is close to equal. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: If 357 Sig is so awesome, why isn’t 38 Super more popular outside of competition circles? Now, 357 SIG is short, and works well in double column magazines, but it came to the party a little late. Economics and ergonomics both favor 9x19, and ballistics is close to equal. I checked the ballistics table for each, and my conclusion was that the 357 Sig comes out on top. As much as 300-400 fps faster than 9mm Lugar in most cases, when we're talking about a non + p for the 9mm Luger and so on. |

Out of the MP-5 9mm will work. Out of a handgun .357 SIG when I wasn't allowed to carry 10 mm at work.

I think the closest we'll get would be reaming out an APC40's barrel to 40 Super and slapping it in an APC45. |

I use to own a HK USP compact in 357sig. That thing hits steel with authority. Down side is iit has a lot of muzzle blast and recoil. Shooting it in an indoor range was unbearable. I can’t imagine setting on off in an indoor defense situation.
It would probably make a good SMG round. |

I passed on a limited run of MP5 clones chambered in .357sig.
I regret that. |

Cartridge vs cartridge? .357 Sig all day.
Actually using them in the real world though, where recoil, mag capacity, and ammo cost etc actually exist? 9mm all day. |
|
I've always wanted a USP compact in .357, or a Sig 239 in the same just for the heck of it. Never have picked one up, don't see them now very often. Got them in .40 instead, which is pretty common.
Guess I most likely never will, and admittedly, I've never even shot a .357 Sig. |

357 sig for one stop shot, especially when it may be the only shot defending against a hoodlum shooting up the place with a switch'd up glock sporting a 30rd 9mm mag

Quoted: Why doesn’t everyone just shoot 44 magnum out of a big hos revolver like dirty Harry? Handgun power is a trade-off. I think 9 mm is the best balance between power, capacity, and shootability. I think most people agree with me, which is why 357 Sig never took off, 40 Smith and Wesson took off and then died, and 10 mm just dies, and then struggles to come back and kind of dies again. And then there was that 45 from Glock. View Quote Because .44 magnum isn't big enough. Attached File The .44 is the little one. |

Best plinking round I ever had easy access to was the privi stuff. The cost and all the watered down ammo is what stopped it from ever taking off. If it was like $15 a box for 50 rounds I would be all over it. I still have about 300 rounds of hst and gold dots laying around. 9mm is still cool too. .357 Sig doesn't offer much above 9mm +P or 9+P+ ammo so I'm no longer seeing the special niche it had as a service round.
In gelatin testing, .357 Sig rounds seem to be tied neck & neck with 9mm so there doesn't seem to be much advantage but lots more recoil, flash & noise. I still like it, but find myself not using my .357 Sig barrel very much. |
|
If the 357 Sig were the price and as available as 9mm then I’d choose that. If I have to choose one for the end of time currently then 9mm.

Has anyone built a comped .357sig? In my mind, more gasses, more effective comp. Does that logic work?
I've been thinking about a .357 Sig Roland build. |
