I bet that geothermal plant is making mad power with all this volcanic activity!

It was 1/4 of the islands power.  It shut down as soon as all this started.  Several of the wells are covered by lava but it shouldn't be too hard to dig through that to the well head and hook back up once this is all over.

No one in this thread is close to this are they? working it?  A cat was left at correction near the house Civil Beat had been streaming from... (blue house close to 132) The house is now cut off from easy access by lava on 132 covering the intersection someone would use to get to it.  The house itself should be safe from the lava.

night fall.

Fissure 8 fountain pumping out the lava all day. But the flow hasn't made much progress. It was 2.8 miles away from 4 corners (where 132 and 137 cross) at the start of the day and at last report 1 hour ago it 2.5 miles away.  On the other hand the flow from the area between fissures 16 and 18 is within 1/2 mile of 137 down South at Ahalanui Park.

The flow toward the beach stalled out because an outbreak further up the stream occurred.  That's carving a new path.

An outbreak from F8's flow is currently happening at Makamae Street.  at least 1 more structure(home) destroyed.  This could turn into a major outbreak and new flow path or it could pool up ... unknown.

It's the rock and junk falling in the new vent that is supposed to be involved in the new explosive phase of the eruption.

3 "lobes" off the F8 Flow north of 132.  One is on the Path of Steepest Decent(PSD) that would taking it to the ocean by Hawaiian Beaches.  One is on the PSD that would take it to the ocean through 4 corners and Kapoho/Vacation land.  The third
is right between those two...

There's a lot of movement today but precious little is being communicated.  Lots of evacuation checks being done and trying to clear areas so they can pull out.

Checking the back 3 miles of Railroad rd with helicopter because they couldn't reach it.

That is one of the scenarios.. groundwater getting in and creating enough steam pressure to pop it a whole bunch of times.  That is what happened in 1924.  Im pretty sure that has been happening the last few days but no one could see in..  before that it was just any time a collapse hit the magma at the bottom.

There have been several explosive events already.

But, I'm wondering what effect the larger crater will have?

Does larger crater equal bigger explosions?

Helicopter overflight (6:21 AM image) shows fissure 8 flow; easternmost lobe advancing.  Those buildings are the Kapoho Village Inn... some of the last that survived the 1960 eruption that buried the town.

Their council women just reported he had a long time fued with neighbors regarding property lines and trespassing
They may not have this issue if the lava has it’s way.
