I built a swapped 93 notch 2.3 turbo. Added a 5 speed and upgraded all the suspension to GT spec. Super fun car.

Thanks for the comments and pics of your rides.  Some nice rides.  

Progress will probably be somewhat slow for the next couple weeks.  Gonna be somewhat busy with work.  But I will try to keep the thread updated.

Here's my 89 that I sold awhile back.  Six point cage, but I cut the door bars off.  Subs connected, the works.  351w supercharged, etc.  Very fast ride.  498hp/491tq to back wheels.  A real head turning rocket ship.  should have just kept it in the garage.

I missed out on a fairly clean ex-DPS notchback a few years ago.  Interior was toast, but mechanically sound.  $1500...I've spent more money on worse projects in my life.  

Would have been a fun car to play with.

My 97 Cobra runs mid 11s with a stock engine... but my best friend's notch runs 9.7s at 140+ with a Ford engine. Like I stated earlier I LOVE notchbacks.... I'm here for more Mustang pics.

Ye old sleeper, the name sake of my profile.




And they said a stock motored 2V with just a blower would never see anything less than a 12.00 In that trim it was running 11.50s at 118 all day. Here is it yanking in that trim.


It eventualy had the motor cracked open but not because it was broken but because I wanted to get it faster and wanted to drive it to ATL before I broke the engine. With MPHs guidance it made the power I craved and had a dose of giggle on the side, just in case.



Next project will be an LS power FD RX7

I cant read the HP on the dyno.  582?   Looks like fun.  2v engines are tough to get fast too.  

I have a 32v 4.6 bored to 5.0 going in my 2000 Mustang with a monster turbo.  
Built it and put it in a fox and changed it out for a Coyote.  Then decided it needs to replace the 3.8 in my 2000.  

The numbers were put down with a pretty conservative tune.  The motor is built to handle around 900 to 1000 hp.  I have another dyno sheet that was done later and it was about a hundred more horse on a mild tune,  but I cant seem to find it.  This is at the wheels in a Fox Capri.

It has around 160k on a factory stock long block. Bolt ons, gears, and some spray. Went 11.6 at 116.8.

I was REALLY happy. With some suspension stuff it should go a little quicker. Mind you this car has a total of maybe 7 grand in it including purchase price of the car. I paid more to have the 5 speed rebuilt than I paid for the car.

My 2000 Mustang will have about 4000 in it.  The motor and trans in it are a trade from a good friend for some body and paint work.  The motor has about 1000 miles on it since it was built and the trans has about 450 mile on it

The notch in the pics has about 3000 in it so far.  


Oh yeah!  Bottles are for babies!

Don't know what your hometown track is, but the track at Marion South Dakota is my favorite drag strip that is within a reasonable distance from me. Who knows, maybe I'll see ya there sometime!

I have actually contemplated going to check that track out.  I usually just hit the local 1/4 mile track in Moorhead.  

I picked up a couple rear ends for the builds in Yankton a month or so ago.

I don't have many pictures of it.  But it is really a pretty simple set up.  

It is literally pretty much the same as the standard cooling system on the car except the heater core in this system is the intercooler for the turbo.  

The system consists of a run of the mill radiator connected to an electric water pump which is connected to what amounts to an air intake cooler (or intercooler) that has aluminum plates welded over where the fins would normally be and bungs added for the water to flow across the piping that the air passes through.  Cooling the hot compressed air as the water passes over the intake piping.  The water in turn is passed through the radiator and cooled via air passing through it,  weather it is from driving or the cooling fan or both.

looks almost identical to my brothers drag 5.3 turbo fox notch. You going to run megasquirt I assume? He just ran a personal best 5.50 at 130 in the 1/8th last weekend. on a 10" slick. Last dyno pull that I know of put down somewhere in the 900's to the tire. stock bottom end with mis matched GM junk yard parts and home garage ported stock heads. Turned around stock cast manifolds like you got too. Its even the same color and I even think his is a 93 lol. Good luck.

I'm jealous. Love the car and awesome fab skills.

For all the people hating on the color, or body style, maybe it's a generational thing. I grew up in the 80s and started driving in the early 90s. These cars were king of the strip and cheap enough for a high school kid to own. Colors were flashy and we liked it that way!

Nice ride. Always wanted to build a 4V for good power. How do the coyotes do NA. Would love a solid 400rwhp and two stages. Love ford motors and have seen the videos of the coyotes running a lope tune and they sounded every bit as raucous as my 2V did with custom blower cams.

Great thread !

Keep a look out for an L33 5.3.
They are 100LBS lighter and have much better heads (799) than that iron block 5.3.

But you probably already know that.

Just be careful when you go under it.  I managed to knock my 89 GT off the
jackstands whacking on a 12mm wrech (driveshaft/pinion flange) and put
myself into a 5 day coma, got last rites and came as close to killing myself
as a person can get.  I set it up right too - no redneck engineering the lift or
anything.  Lent my creeper to a friend 3 days before and if I had that I would
have been cut in half.  Caught the differential right between the nipples......

Did a little more work on the car today.  

Mounted the catch can and milled the fuel rails in the spare time at the shop.



The fuel rail process was a little time consuming but not bad at all.  

After figuring for the angle on the intake vs fuel injector rail,  we figured the end mill had to give us a 12 degree cut.  So with some finagling with the tooling vise and some wedge blocks we got our angle.
After that we had to set the depth of the first cut.  


On to milling.



Once the flats are milled in,  the fuel hole/pilot hole is measured and marked,  then drilled into the rails.


Then the injector seat is drilled to depth.


Then counter sunk.



Once that is all done,  It has to be polished and de-burred.  This is done with a rolled up scotch brite pad in the drill.




Then to de-burr the inside of the rails where they were drilled,  We used an undersized bit in the fuel rail.  Shaking the bit back and forth in the rail takes burrs off,  once done with the small bit a final tighter fitting bit is used in the same fashion to further de-burr.  Then a final pilot drill to clean the fuel holes.  Then a cleaning in the parts washer.   A test fit with an old injector is done and all is good.


What hasnt been done yet is cutting them to their final length and threading and chamfering them for A/N fittings and O-rings.  Easy peasey.

Little bump for the morning crew.


Probably wont get much done today.  Heading out to get yet another project.  

Picking up a complete 2003 Mustang GT minus motor and front end for 500 bucks.

Nice!

Fox bodies are ugly ducklings to many, but they're fun as hell to hop up and drive around.


My buddy had a '93 Saleen with a blower and that car was a rocket.

...until he rocketed it through someone's garage, but at least the car was the only thing killed

Nothing too exiting today.  Just pinning and plugging and finalizing the wiring harness.  Maybe in the next week or two I will have a video of it running.  

Todays priority was to de-cop a cop car so we can make room and drag it to scrap  

Picked up a great running and driving wrecked 2009 P-71 for 250 bucks.  That will serve as the running gear and cross member for the late fourtys or early 50s willys pickup (Don't remember the year) rat we are going to start on in the future.

This thread makes me miss my notchback.  Sometimes I wish I had just left it in the garage.  Sold it for nothing, I think 9,500 bucks.  I had 22k in that car.  It was FAST, noisy, raw.  Man, why did you start this thread????

Start another project!

I know people like project threads.  Maybe It will inspire somebody to have at it with one of their own.  They are great fun to build and more fun to drive.  Very rewarding to say "I helped make that" Or "I made that".

This thread makes me sad.

My 95 Cobra sits dead in the garage...

Cannot pull codes off ECU after it suddenly died on me while out driving the back roads.   3rd gear climbing through 4500rpm and instantly dead.

Think it may sit til I can afford the ProM stand alone system I want for when my Dart SHP 331 with victor efi intake goes in.   Need money for Kmember and some other crap so all told about 7k to go.

Thank god I have my 05 GT back together after trans/clutch rebuild.  If I didnt have anything fun to drive I would probably be buying another damn stang.   05 GT is gonna get a blower and I am saving for a 2015 GG PP or a GT350.

And they said a stock motored 2V with just a blower would never see anything less than a 12.00 In that trim it was running 11.50s at 118 all day. Here is it yanking in that trim.

It eventualy had the motor cracked open but not because it was broken but because I wanted to get it faster and wanted to drive it to ATL before I broke the engine. With MPHs guidance it made the power I craved and had a dose of giggle on the side, just in case.

Nice ride but for fucks sake stop putting ls crap in ford's because it's easier and cheaper.  Do not put Chevy shit in amazing rotary chassis. If your gonna swap an fd do it right with a 20b and send me the rew  for some tlc
