I'm a pretty thin dude (5'11 - 150lbs), I've been trying to figure out the best way to carry my Glock 19 and/or S&W SD9VE. Right now I carry my Sig P238 in a crossbreed appendix holster and it works pretty well. However if I carry my Glock or S&W during summer I feel like I print a lot. Any thinner dudes have a work around? |

EDC is a Glock 19 Gen 5, Inforce APL and a +2 extension. 17+1. I carry a spare mag with another 15rnd mag with a +2 extension.

Guys, don’t get mad. I admit I don’t even follow my own good advice all the time. I have a P30 I should be shoving in my waistband.
Instead, I’ll be found dead clutching my Shield - the 7 round magazine expended all too soon. |

The whole jist here is, we can not predict who will assault us and with what. If you want to go up against junebug and pookie with an LCP, when they are carrying a simple hipoint and maybe even an AK, thats on you.

I feel pretty comfortable carrying a shield with flush mag or a 1911 with 9 rounds in it. I'll throw another mag in my pocket when I'm going downtown, but otherwise I'm in a low crime neighborhood during daylight hours. I don't go to "stop and robs" or spend any significant time in a bad part of town. Nor do I drive through or near them on a daily basis. If a gang of shady kids starts getting froggy, I'm going to leave. easy as that.
I'm not against a double stack and may keep one in the truck or house. Or a long gun. Or both because options are good. But really I think something you can make a reasonable hit with at 25 feet, in a reliable caliber is fine. I have drawn 3 times in my life but never needed a shot. arguing that your choice that may in fact be better for you is the right choice for me is asinine. You don't know my training, skills, lifestyle, or AO. Capacity and caliber are wasted discussions and I can't believe we have them every day/week. My grandpa was a cop in NYC in the old days and had a 6 shot 38. turned out alright for him. It's good to have options, and make choices that make you happy. personally I only feel the need/desire for a double stack with a natural disaster or time of unrest. think hurricane or similar. Otherwise don't be in stupid places with stupid people at stupid times of the day and there's a good chance you'll survive. |

How in the world do you guys put a 43 in your pocket? How big are your pockets?? 43 wouldn't even fit in my back pocket let alone my front jeans pocket! I am 6'3" 200lbs and don't wear skinny boy clothing either. How do you do it?

Yeah, I know you’re little single stack 9mm or .380 is lighter and conceals better and all that. But face it, when you’ve got 15+1 and at least one reload on the belt, you don’t feel as undergunned. Don’t give me any of that .45acp talk, neither. View Quote ETA: long story short... a few years back I was followed and cornered by 4 guys(3 followed me up my driveway 1 stayed back watching the street)... I was carrying my 642. I turned and faced them and pulled it out. They stopped and we all just stared at each other for what felt like 2 hours... but then they just calmly turned and walked away talking shit as they departed. We were about 25’ apart... if they would have all drawn(if they were carrying)... chances are I would have been fucked and out of ammo way too fast. That was the last time I ever carried the 642. I never carry anything less than 15+1. ETA: For the most part a single stack or J-frame may be all that you need... and the chance of actually having to use it is mostly slim... so I still say carry what’s comfortable... it’s better than nothing at all. |

I’m limited to 10 round mags.
S&W Shield 9. Mag-Guts +2 kits. The 7 and 8 round mags that came with the gun are now 9 and 10. 9+1 + 10 = 20 rounds on tap |

Collect the whole set. On speedo day, carry the 42. Jeans and t-shirt, 19. Trip to the 'hood, 40 with reloads and a 29 for a backup.

It is extremely difficult to beat a Glock 19 + spare mag or a Glock 17 + spare mag, both AIWB. Lightweight, comfortable to carry and will adequately defend your life. Otherwise, Glocks are just meh.

I was a .45 guy for years.
I still have some but I had to look around and take an honest assessment a while back. What started off as 1/20 pistols being 9mm has turned into 12/15. And the ammo count is not reflective of that either. At the end of the day if I could only have one maybe it would still be a .45. Shot for shot it is still more lethal and I just have a hard time giving that up. There is something so satisfying about seeing those huge hunks of lead/copper and that massive bore. However, the entire package of a double stack 9mm just kept pulling me farther and farther that way. So easy to shoot. Ammo is so cheap. So much capacity. So easy to teach my wife/sister/daughter or any other new shooter on. Suppresses well with subs. |

Fuck yeah double stack 9mm with a reload. That's my edc. IN CT WITH 10 FUCKING ROUNDS IN EACH MAG. The reload mag can't even BE a standard capacity. It MUST only hold 10 rounds. The one in the gun can be a hi-cap (if you "declared" it when registering), but can only be loaded with 10 rounds. Yet you can carry as many spare mags as you want.
"Common sense" gun control FTMFW. |

I carried my G19 two weeks ago for a day. I forgot that it is pretty comfortable to carry. I do love my G43. I used to carry the G26, but if I can carry that then I can carry the G19. View Quote "A G26 is not much bigger than a G43. If you can conceal a G43, you can conceal a G26." "A G19 really isn't much bigger than a G26." "A G17 is just a little bigger than a G19." "If you can conceal a G17, you can conceal a G21." Conclusion: a G21 is just as concealable as a G43. |

If you feel undergunned you need to practice more. I'm pretty confident with my LCP and G43 for most conceivable defensive scenarios. I've never found a way of concealing a bigger gun IWB that is comfortable and hides well with the clothes I wear. I'm simply not going to walk around every day with a uncomfortable pistol stuck on my hip when something smaller fits in my pocket much, much easier. But it's my funeral.

You don't carry a full size weapon? Might as well not even carry. I carry a cz p09 with 2 reloads, then I have one j framed revolver in each pocket with 4 speed loaders in each cargo side pocket, as well as an ar pistol in the back of the car ready to go. I wear a fannypack with a knife, flashlight, rope and bear spray. My back pack has three MRE, a change of clothes, and a GPS system. This is just what I put on when I'm doing a Wawa run, don't even get me started on what I do to go for an entire evening! https://memegenerator.net/img/instances/56930155/its-your-funeral.jpg No PT (Reflective) Belt. |
