You're missing the point.  People are upset about all of that, but feel powerless to do anything about it.  I can't impact the direction of our military or school boards outside of my own district, but I sure as hell can choose what beer to buy.  The Bud Light boycott isn't about beer.  It is about the silent majority finding a voice.

And hopefully just an initial toehold in a long climb we have yet to make.  People are fed up; now they all need to understand it's OK to fight back.

My complete speculation is that the distributors were informed (as if they didn't already know) that sales of Bud Light are way down and other beers in the AB portfolio are down as well. They may also have been told if sales continue to drop off a cliff, they may have to declare force majeure and re-negotiate terms with the distributors. A trial balloon may have been floated of renaming/re-launching a "new" branded beer to bypass the stigma associated with Bud Light.

All that to say, only those at the meeting know.

ETA: Based on the info posted above as I was typing, it sounds like AB hasn't learned their lesson yet. They will.

That is unfortunately no longer possible given the ownership structure.  These are functionally all crown corporations now.

The Federal government dumped TRILLIONS into the stock market between 2009 and now to prop it up during various stimulus plans.  Those investments were placed with Blackrock and Vanguard, whose ownership and management was considered politically reliable (i.e., party member management just like Germany in the 1930-40s - why have a socialist revolution when you can just install reliable management).  Those shares bought seats for activist investors (other party members) whose roles are to force political compliance, not smart business decisions.

Its just like how large prestigious "N"GO charities are now run by progressive party compliance and government dollars.

The private sphere didnt just shrink over the last two decades - it practically disappeared.

I believe the beer is still made in Mexico and owned by InBev.   InBev makes money from Constellation buying the beer and importing it.

Did you miss the Bud marketing VP saying they need to change their image and dump their frat boy customer? Apparently AB does not want our money. Don’t give it to them. It is not rocket science.

If Coors is trying to reach out to a new market while not insulting their current customers, I am ok with it. Just don’t tell me that I am not worthy of their products, service or respect. AB can go broke a s far as I am concerned. I hope their employees and  business partners all land on their feet.

There is a problem with buying beer cheap and stacking it deep.  The shelf life of beer is not great.  If it is being sold at a deep discount odds are it’s already 2 or 3 months old.  Bud Light doesn’t start out as the best when fresh and goes even further downhill with each month.

That said, as long as I am short BUD I won’t consume their products.  Currently drinking Sierra Nevada.

I was never a bud light drinker anyway, so continuing to not buy it is a pretty easy move. Besides, doing that might drive prices down for other better beer like yuengling so I'd still win.

Hypothetical example:
Bud Light 30 pack price slashed to $5
Yuengling 24 pack $21

Anheuser-Busch’s distributors from around the country met in St. Louis on Thursday. They heard firsthand about changes being made regarding the Bud Light transgender controversy.

Anheuser-Busch invited the distributors to the downtown Hyatt hotel for a yearly meeting on summer marketing plans. It was the first such meeting since transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney’s viral social media posts with Bud Light in early April. She received a special edition can with her picture on it.

Anheuser-Busch and its distributors have also sent letters to bars and other retailers explaining the situation, pointing out that a single marketing official engaged with Mulvaney.

Why didn't the CEO say that in his first letter?  Why did it take them a month to come up with the explanation of "it was low level employee who engaged a 3rd party marking firm".  Why did the VP insult the customer base and say she was trying to change the image of the brand...but yet now AB wants to claim she had no knowledge an employee of hers was carrying out the plan? Why did it take them a month to state they had just fired 3rd party advertising company?  They would have known all that day 1 that things blew up, not a month later.  More lies from AB.

The spark of realization inspires people to research this stuff.  That's the way it should be.

Let corporations know why you are ditching them.

The hard part is remembering to do so over the long haul.  Does anyone even remember that Miller was all in favor of illegal immigration years back?
