95% of the “labs or lab mixes” in the shelters look like mostly pit bull


I found this guy a couple weeks ago in a shelter about 90 minutes away.   He’s a good boy, 1-1/2 YO with a few bad habits he needs to be broken of.  He likes to jump up on people.   I don’t mind but he’s big - 105# and almost stands as high as my shoulders.    And he gets a little bitey when inside - not chomping down on skin hard, but mostly biting sleeve and other parts of clothes.     But I’m very impressed with him.  He listens very good outside and stays close.  Responds to his name.    But he recently found out about deer.  Maybe he never saw them much before, and he did run some out of the yard last weekend.   But he came running back after I yelled for him.   So he’s going to get his Halo collar working soon.  
He’s obsessed with that little soccer ball too.

Apparently his previous master was an old guy and had to get double knee replacement and he wasn’t getting any activity before he was taken to a shelter.    
I took him for a short ride last weekend and he was really upset.  I wonder if he thought he was being abandoned again?  
Once it warms up will take him for a little cup of ice cream or maybe a burger.

Those poor dogs. And all dogs with smushed faces that struggle with every breath. Genetic manipulation at its worst.

I’d like to have a border terrier some day. Not very easy to find pups though.

My mom had a few Weimaraners.....her big one was like 80 lbs and would go out and kill the cyotes....until one day...they got him. But holy hell, that bark it had would scare the debil away.

The neighbor's French Bulldog came over the other day to play.  He did a lap around the yard with our Spoo, Ranger, and then he laid on the ground like he was about to die, haha.

Happy for the Labs, too many backyard breeders as it is, maybe they'll fade away now.


Super happy Chows aren't up in those lists either.

They sell for big money, certian colors for unbelievable money.

Pretty common for them to have breathing issues.

Every time I start thinking about getting something other than my normal Lab I see a picture like that and realize why mess with what works.

Schnauzers are a special breed.  Smart, but can be very "opinionated" about people.  

I miss mine.
