The last "toy" I bought was a Taurus PT-92 with faux ivory grips and gold accents.

Zero toys bought here in as much as legos.
It depends on what you mean by toys. Or they mean by toys. The kids these days in my experience are glued to their tablets or phones. This thanksgiving I went to a buddy's house. One of his girls spent most of the time curled up in a corner with her tablet. It was a scene when they two were separated. It's been many moons since I was involved with raising kids. |

People in this thread making fun of adults who collect toys, on a forum where people spend thousands of dollars to build clones of FBI, GOWT, etc clones of ARs.

My wife buys me a “toy” every Christmas. It’s a running joke. Last year was a drone, this year was a laser tag type set. It’s always something we can use with the grandkids. We also grabbed a Nintendo Switch, the little ones like Mario Kart and they have some decent games for adults as well. Fuck it, I get some toys here and there.

Won't lie...He-Man, Skeletor, and Battlecat repros may be in this house!
Also some Lego! |

My goal in life in life from an early age was to own and operate some excavating equipment and having done that , I wish I'd stuck w/ toys .

Lego kits can be pretty good, like the ones that can be built into functioning engines . I don't partake myself, mostly just step on my kids' Duplo blocks in the dark.
Funko Pops, however, are fully degenerate. |

Sometimes I see a toy or figure that I think about buying.
Then I think about all the stuff I already have lying around taking up space & gathering dust. In the end I shake it off & walk away. |

Whatever floats your boat.
I'm not going to pretend like my gun collection isn't effectively a toy collection. |

I grew up in the 80’s and had all the cool toys. Have a couple still in the box that are boxed up in the closet. I love legos. I don’t have any. I have not bought toys in so many years I can not even recall. I saw the price of toys now and feel bad for kids. I see why they don’t play with them as much any more and all about iPads and technology instead. I really don’t care what people spend their own money on. If I had lots of money I would probably have a toy room filled full of collectors stuff. But it is so far down my list of things I will spend money on. Rather buy gun stuff or motorcycles or wood working stuff or, etc. I went out with a girl years ago that was a diehard Lego girl. It’s their money, they can buy what they want. We all should have hobbies.

In early 2000's I thought Legos were getting too complicated and would soon die out, so I invested heavily in megablocks.

Quoted: I usually stroll through the toy aisle to relive the glory days once in awhile. The cost of toys is ridiculous these days. View Quote I do the same whenever I end up in the vicinity of a toy isle. Being in art as a profession, I really appreciate a lot of the artistry that goes in to a lot of the higher quality toys. A good friend of mine has been sculpting toys for many years. Amazing stuff. Also, a number of companies have been producing stuff that is collector's grade. Like Masterpiece Transformers at $250+. Those kinds of items are becoming a larger market. They're certainly not anything the average parent would ever buy thier child. Those items are still counted the same as toddler pj mask toys in a report like the op refers to I'd imagine. Lot's of people collect all sorts of various things. Could be beanie babies, lol... |

I don't buy or own toys for myself but I'll confess I did enjoy shopping bruder/ertl 1:16 scale trucks for my son and I was pretty excited for him to get them at Christmas so we could play with them.
Might have even drooled a little bit over the bruder high track car dozer. |

GenX is in peak earning years. There’s a lot of 1980s nostalgia toys out there.

Probably a similar percentage of adults who buy coloring books for themselves
(that one time I made a thread about stupid coloring books and it ended up with pages of butthurt, lmao) |

When I was moving one of the trash guys cleaning out the cellar bought some of my childhood toys. I think they had some collectible value but my kids aren't interested in those toys, they really just play sports or play on their iPads. I gave a carpenter working on my house some of my old comics.
