I mow all my own yards. Allergies are bad enough this year to need something regularly.

Went to the store. Picked up a 25pk of Zyrtec, and a 25pk of Claritin. Figured I would try both.

NO GO. Obvious meth-freak alert!!!!! I could only buy a 10pk of each.

So, how much meth could I POSSIBLY cook with two packs of algery pills????????? (I know, I could be hoarding them to have more but 20 seems like a low limit. )

Yes. I'm congested!! Is that some criminal intent? Does the "D" stand for extra Meth??

I use Benydrl.

You can get big bottles of it cheap at BJs or Costco.

Benadryl knocks me on my ass, then leaves me in a fog.

Oh, and Yes, the "D" stands for extra meth.  That's why you can only buy a max number of mg per day, have to show ID to purchase, yada yada.

I use the generic sudaphed cold and alergy. Can buy 1 48 pack per day. The walgreens brand is wal-phed.

I buy 180ct bottles of Zyrtec.  You must be trying to buy Zyrtec laced with meth...stop trying to subvert the law.

That happened to me, but I could buy a larger box of one, but not TWO boxes. Pharmacist said it was the law. I was standing there with one eye swelling shut from allergies, but I needed one type for me and one for someone else.  So, I asked where was another pharmacy.  I was in a CVS and he sort of gave me bad directions to another CVS further away, but I went to a Walgreens for box #2. So, the next time I went to Costco, I saw they had the REAL Sudafed behind the counter, in like a 100 pack!  Bought that for my "stash".  Didn't want to run out like I just did, and have to go out hunting this stuff down and getting rationed because the feds think this is winning the drug war.

The D is the decongestant which is the controlled part
Plain Allegra, Zyrtec and Claritin are pure antihistamines and have no restrictions

Are you tweaking??

Welcome to my world.

The meth nazi's got me the other day when I tried to pick up 2 ten pack's of Allerga D.

So now I have to go back to my doctor to get a prescription for an OTC.

The sudafed laws are bullshit.  I understand that meth is a problem, but it really seems like these restrictions do absolutely nothing to prevent people from making/selling meth.

It pisses me off to no end that I can't buy the shit in bulk, and instead have to spend a fortune on tiny packs.

Sudafed won't do dick for the allergic reaction--all it will do is decongestion.

You want a histamine blocker like Zyrtec or Allegra to stop the allergic reaction. Both are essentially non-sedating.

Yup, you have to sign/register to buy anything with psuedoephedrine in it.  It works though.  I use zyrtec + generic decongestant from behind the counter.  The new OTC formulation sucks, I would bet money that is doesn't actually do anything.

Meth cooks do/did exactly what you're complaining about--buy the stuff in bulk.

So, essentially you're complaining that you can't buy the stuff like a meth cook would.

Yup, and now the meth cooks (and allergy sufferers) just drive around and buy it from multiple stores.  It's not like they share records.  All it did was drive the price up.

Have you thought about trying the allergy shots.   Doctor takes a blood sample and make a serum based on what you're allergic to.

After 3 years of allergy shots I'm effectively cured of my allergies!  Just got allergy tested again this week.

3 years ago I tested highly allergic to most of the grasses and trees in Alabama. Did the skin test where they pricked my back 92 times with various allergens. Back before I started the shots I had about 64 allergens show I was highly allergic to. Only thing that popped up this time was "dust" and it was a "2" where it was a "4" when I started the shots 3 years ago. Those other 63 are gone!!! Even my beef and milk allergy has gotten better. My asthma like symptoms are gone! I was always sick as kid. Even as an adult in my 30s I would get strep throat once a month. In the past year and a half, I've been sick enough to require antibiotics twice.   Spring pollen didn't bother me at all.

I'm 40 years old and I'm the healthiest I've ever been.

Yep, hide your dagg during ragweed season.

Nothing like going to the pharmacy counter and being treated like a meth-head, or even better a "smurf".

My wife has asthma and my son inherited her allergies, so we're a fun bunch to be around during allergy season. Our insurance won't cover the allergy testing (prick you 87 times with different allergens) and Sudafed is the only thing that seems to work (that we can afford...) so we're screwed.

...and our dog has recurring nightmares about being shot by frustrated sociopathic ninja wannabe's.

This.

You can also do sublingual drop therapy from home. Just bit the bullet and do it. In the meantime get on a nasal steroid spray (like Nasonex) and use it daily. Don't use the decongestant meds for more than about two to three weeks at a time as your body will become tolerant of their effects and they will be less effective. Your daily regimen should be nasal steroid and regular antihistamine (e.g. Allegra/Fexofenadine), while the immunotherapy (shots/drops) kicks in.

There is an addictive quality to the D portion of that. Fexofenadine and psuedoefederine are  the ingredients meth cookers are after.

Meth cookers combine this with muriatic acid/ driveway cleaner, drano, and rat poison and HCl/hydrochloric . What it does to your body is devastating.

Used as directed it's relatively safe.

You had to have gotten the kind with psuedoephedrine.  Your state must be strict as holy shit.  In New Mexico you can buy 6 grams max every 7 days. Thats like two of the large packages of straight sudafed.

Save yourself some time.

Drop the other shit and just use the Claritin (or the generic).  The only trick is to take it regularly as it is slow to act and works best if you take it before you are exposed.

I buy a large 300 count bottle of generic Claritin (loratidine) at Costco about once a year. Works well and no problems with any flagging. I used to have to get a corticosteriod allergy shot (kenallog?) every year because my allergies were so bad. But loratidine seems to work well enough.

No kidding it's a source of constant annoyment for me. It used to be me buying a 24 pack of Zyrtec-D for my use, then my daughter and son started taking it so I had to buy more. PITA!

Now, like so many things that are restricted, an entire mass of Americans with runny noses have to jump through yet another hoop, simply becuase of the behavior of a sliver of the population in meth labs. I guess it's yet another small victory in the War on Drugs.

Actually they are sharing data in some states.  Your information is entered into a database and they look at the frequency and locations you purchase from.  If they find a pattern an investigation is initiated.   NPLEx

I hate it as I have allergies as well.  Benedryl and Pseudophed are the only things that work.  I hate meth addicts and politicians with the same anger due to the restrictions.
