Any decent new books on the horizon? I enjoyed Dark Imperium and the unlikely teaming up of a custodes and a sister of silence more than I thought I would. Bringing girlyman back has turned out to be a lot better than I thought.

I'm still waiting for the hammer to drop on the Primaris, seems a bit too good to be true that they've been fighting for over a century with none falling to chaos. I thought they might go with a schism from old marines and new primaris, but looks like they managed to hoodoo papa smurf into a primaris, so I think that signals acceptance of the change, at least with codex compliant chapters.

Eisenhorn and Ravenor's final trilogy seems to be in limbo forever. Abnett is in pretty high demand even outside of 40k.

Eta: wow, I just found out there was a surprise 4th eisenhorn book last year, The Magos. Missed that one! I'll have to find it.

Kill team is getting another expansion. The Elites book looks good, Vanguard Primaris Marines and finally Custodes! I’m really interested in seeing the point costs on the Custodes.

Which is a good thing, if the point cost is right.

And the mention of chainglaives in the fluff.
I like Daemon Engines, but I like Renegade Knights more. Hopefully they get some more love.

I hear ya there. Egads, but 3rd was the glory days for the Blood God. I'm still stubbornly trying to figure out how to get any sort of satisfying results out of my red tide of berzerkers, but my main opponent these days is my brother who runs Tau, and their "everyone in 6" gets to shoot overwatch whether they're the unit being charged or not" bullshit really takes a lot of the fun out of the game. After trying that a few times, I'll run my AdMech and it feels like I'm playing the game on Easy mode. Over the course of this edition my World Eaters army has started to move more toward a Khorne-themed Dark Mechanicus force in looks with lots of Hellbrutes (possibly even less satisfying on the table than the berzerkers), Maulerfiends, and a Defiler. The new stuff coming out makes me think that this trend in my Chaos army will likely continue. I have no doubt that the Lord Despoiler will look even better in a blood red paint job than he does in black.

I really like it. The contrast works really well. I'd probably use troll slayer orange and mechanicus standard gray.

My first real attempt at painting a 40k model. Forgive the shitty lighting. I've only painted Bolt Action before, and that was just to tabletop standards.

Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks. I did a squad of 5 intercessors and have decided (after doing those 5 in Dawnstone) to use Mechanicus Standard Gray as the base and Troll Slayer as the highlight for a Jokaro Orange base. I'm just waiting on the decals from Fallout and they'll be close to finished. I'll finish the bases up with some blue and/or light purple flowering plants and I'll post some pics.

Really good job!

I've painted a little bit of death guard and I never felt the model was complete until I slathered on some agrax earthshade. They call shades "talent in a bottle" for a reason. I also go nuts with nurgles rot and typhus corrosion on DG as well.

It looks great and is definitely tabletop ready. If you want to push it up to the next level, I'd suggest painting the coils on the plasma gun blue and try edge highlighting the hard edges on the entire mini.

I used agorax earthshade for the armor and bone, druchii violet for the flesh.

Thanks for the advice and compliments everyone. I've been watching Tabletop Minions on YouTube for tips on painting. I'm definitely enjoying painting over building.

WIP of the first squad for my homebrew chapter I post the image of a while ago. Still have a lot to do. The left three still need to their first layer of edge highlighting, the right two need the second layer, they all need their helmet lenses done, the bases finished, etc. Like I said, WIP. Appreciate any C&C especially if you see some glaring issues.

I've been listening to the Lorehammer Podcast on a work trip.

They really capture the "two nerds arguing hilariously about irrelevant minutiae" aspect of hobby stores I miss sometimes. In general it's a funny podcast and they're getting better as it progresses.

they kinda run through some aspect of lore in each episode and give a decent primer.

Looks like we'll soon be seeing a mechanicus transport, something new with renegade knights, and they've previewed a new Primaris named character techmarine.
