I've had a 'thing' for flashlights since I was a child.  My wife became aware of this 'thing', so a few years ago started getting those cheap gimmicky flashlights all the department stores sell around the holidays.

She wasn't aware my 'thing' was for quality flashlights, so for a few years I tried to subtly get that point across.  Finally last Christmas I had no choice but to be very blunt, insisting she not get me any more cheap crap.  We'll see in a few months if she remembers.  If I think of it, I'll remind her ahead of time.

She gets up before me almost every day, so she is nice about not turning on the bedroom light when she is picking out clothes.  She instead uses a flashlight, as to not disturb me.  Funny thiing is, she always seems to use one of my high-dollar quality flashlights instead of the drawer full of cheap crap she has bought me.  She never puts them back, so she has hundreds and hundreds of dollars of my flashlights lying around God knows where, while the cheap crap is where it has been sitting since the day I opened those presents.

Different tools for different jobs.

That's kind of how the gun grabbers look at things: all you "need" is a .38 revolver, maybe a deer rifle and a shotgun.

Thanks.

This. If I knew where all my lights were I could open a store.

I brought home a small lantern today & my wife gave me flack for it.

So I put it in our bedroom next to my smaller lantern and 4 of my headlamps.

I've given up on flashlights. I've bought so many throughout the years and they've never lasted more than a few months. I don't throw them down my driveway, either. Just regular use here and there.

I started with an original 6P back after I joined this site. I've actually lost that one since then. But along with every other expensive obsession you dicks have caused, I've got way more invested in flashlights than any normal person would feel the need to.

I can't even count right now. But I know I have multiples of Surefire, Streamlight, Olight, and Nitcore. And at least one Thorfire and Fenix. This weekend I bought a LaserMax Spartan for my Remington Tac 14. I'm guessing I have at least 20 flashlights that are between 50 and 200 bucks each.

I think I have about 5 "quality" flashlights, one of which is the only Surefire product I own, a G2.    I have a couple Streamlight Scorpions and a couple Streamlight Microstreams.

No, but headlamps?  Yes.

Every hunting season I need a new headlamp.  They always go to shit on me before the season is over.

Finally decided to drop some money and get a couple high quality headlamps.  Guess what I couldn't get to work yesterday when getting my hunting gear ready?

Holy crap I thought it was just me.

Decided I needed a good quality headlamp for my backpacking trips.  Went to rei and picked up one of the more expensive ones (not gonna lie, it looked cool... waterproof, shockproof and OD green to boot).  Finally got out to the backcountry for a few days and couldn't get it to work properly.   All I wanted was a simple headlamp... but lo and behold I picked up a freaking ufo!  Blues, greens, whites, reds, intensity settings, strobes.... All operated by a single fucking button.  WTF!!!

Could never figure out how to just keep it on the white setting, and stay there.  Now it's sitting in Downtrodden's Footlocker of Frustration.

If you know what a Spy 007 flashlight is, you know your stuff.

However, at ~$1,700-$2,500, if you can even find/get one, they're a bit spendy for what they are.

If I won the lotto, I'd probably seek one out just to see what the hype is all about, but even $1,700 buys you a lot of nice lights.

I'd go with something like a Jeff Hanko modded Sunwayman, before I'd go with a Spy 007, but that's just me:

I am a simple man. I stick with Fenix and Klarus for all my lights. Mostly Klarus. Built well and takes a beating for less money.

Klarus XT11 and XT2C are my favorite. They have the best tailcap switch I have ever used. Can also get tape switches for rifles with the  XT model lights.
I keep an XT11 in my cars, in kitchen, bedroom. XT2C for all my weapon lights. I can easily switch over to the XT11 if I want more throw on weapons if needed. Both are 1100 lumen but the XT11 has a bigger led and orange peel projector. Both will turn the night into day
I also love my Fenix keychain light that takes 1xAAA.

I  dont think that you can have too many. I have a shit ton of flashlights, but none of them are special or even pic worthy.

They are scattered all over the house, garage, vehicles, etc.. I also have them in kits, bags, and packs.

It seems like I'm always checking batteries.

I really only own one 'custom' light and it's the green one back in my pictures on the first page, but we're dealing with two distinct motifs here, as you can see.

I'm not a metal head, so I'm not wearing pimpy John Hardy 'skull' jewelry, but that's one.

The other is the embellishments using tritium vials, as you can see in the first two pictures.

I kind of prefer the tritium inserts, personally.

Most of those are titanium and the metal working is SOTA, but again they're too rich for my blood, even if I wanted one.

Nothing you'd see in hill-billy land, was my point.

I have this Olight S1 Mini waiting for me at home.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F322923857984

It has a .4 lumen low that is the most useful level moving around a dark house without hurting your night vision. The medium is 60 lumens which is perfect for working in dark machines. The 600 lumens is for blinding non-light junkies.

The battery is micro usb rechargeable and the whole package is truly tiny. It remembers the last mode too so it will just keep coming on at the level I want.
