I simply don't see how a quad rail is the best option these days. Especially with the freedom to place rails where needed with ease due to modern mounting systems, or even direct mounting some accessories to those mounting systems. Modern rails are slimmer and more comfortable by quite a margin.

Crane testing shows keymod is garbage, would like to see a comparison against mlok and picatinny. |
I've got some stuff with plastic, and some stuff with KeyMod. My only MLOK stuff is molded into the plastic, ala Scorpion Carbine. Never did care for the size of most quad rails, but did have a DD Omega Rail on my first AR for a while.
I don't hate them, they just aren't my preference. |
I still like the RIS and the Spikes/Seekins BAR. I think I’ve got at least one build with an Aero quad. Lately, I’ve moved to Geissele - prefer the MK13 and MK4.

People bitching about the weight crack me up. You can tell they have never humped anywhere with a m240, m240, javelin, or other kit. Seriously a 14 oz rail like the ris ii on a carbine is nothing. 30lbs for the 240 plus weight of 600+ rounds.
No the quad rail is not dead. Speaking of I need to find a kac ras now that i think of it. |
Nope. I like my KAC Ras and DD Ris II as much as I like my slim mlok rails.

All of my quad rails are KAC M4s on my carbines and an M5 on an M16A4 clone. They work just fine and are easy to remove if I want to. The rest have plain 'ole hand guards.
I have no plans at all to spend money on new rails. |
Quoted: I still like the original CAR handguards the most. Quad rails between the receiver and gas block are cool. Rails to the muzzle are retarded. View Quote This is true for my PWS receivers. The PWS are just about the only I've ever seen that I can stand to look at, to be honest. |
I have a couple of uppers with paracord wrapped around the slots in the rail. It looks kinda cool and honestly feels good. I'll try to grab a picture shortly.

I agree with the move to slick sides and adding pic sections at 3-6-12 only where needed but I think threaded solutions as done by LMT, Colt, LWRC, SIG, Geissele Mk1, etc. were the answer. I absolutely fucking revile MLOK and don't understand why people like it. I'd rather have a quadrail.
I divested myself of the last of my MLOK products last year and have unified onto either pic or threaded pic sections on everything. Never liked KeyMod. I tried to like MLOK, I really did, but it's like taking a step backward solely because everyone else is doing it. I'm not doing it anymore, I'm out. |

I still like qusdrails. Or at the very least, the Fortis that has the rails where you'll likely want them.
I see the Fortis no longer has a full bottom rail. I prefer the old style. |

Quads are fine. I personally hate mlok and keymod. Always something fucking up with those damn lock nuts. Its hard to screw up rails.

After the longest time without having them, I decided to put a vfg on an AR. I'd be really annoyed if I needed to bolt on a rail.
Have one, my first build.
I don't like the way it feels Won't do another. |
One by one, all my quad rails are going away. Slimmer, lighter parts and smaller red dots and optics. Lighten everything up and remove what's not needed. Much better looking and easier to carry and use.
I like them, they’re the strongest form of rail, and I think they’re a good choice for a hard use gun.

No, quad rails aren’t going anywhere. View Quote I have the heaviest quad rail on the planet, a 15" Under The Gun. It is amazingly good, but is possibly crafted from Osmium, it's so goddamn heavy. I need to replace it with an old-school fiberglass tube, and take 47 tons of weight off my 20" bull-barreled Rock River varmint... which likes to shoot 3/4" to 1/2" groups with V-Max 53 grainers and 25.4 gr. of Varget. |

When something better came out, I was like... See ya... Old Technology.... The future is now you old geezers...

Quad rail, midlength pencil barrel, A2 front sight base, ACE skeleton stock. The less cool it is over time, the more I like it.

it's like you couldn't afford the full railed model, so you cheaped out and got the ones that are partly railed in places that might actually be used.
