I love quad rails.
I need to get a couple DD RIS II rails, and a couple KAC FF RAS rails before they're gone forever. |

And then my Geiselle Mk4 SMR is a "Best of both worlds" kind of rail, with the small sections of rail just at the muzzle end.

Nope, just ran out of money and didn't have the -$50 needed to buy a quadrail for the build. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/227964/20200217_131416_jpg-1280939.JPG View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I love the people that buy rails all the way to the muzzle and then just cover them all up with rail covers because that is what they saw other people doing on IG. |

Quad rails are great for Mk.18 and Iraq-era M4 clones... other guns, meh. Too much wasted space. For example, my IDF clone Tavor has one rail at 1:00. There's a Surefire light on it. The MARS optic has a built-in IR laser. The Tavor itself has a built-in mount for a Mepro magnifier, and tritium BUIS. I have no need for anything else. It's the most intuitive and ergonomic weapon I own.
IWI changed their X95 to have a quad rail due to the conception that Americans love them and that this would improve its appeal on the commercial market. Sure, you have plenty of rail space now, most of which isn't getting used, but you can't integrally suppress the weapon with the quad rail, unlike the original design of the 9mm variant of the X95. In fact, the Israelis still use the round handguard for this reason. They absolutely refuse to sell them to us, however. |

Compromise. Quad rails are heaver, but have superior mounting stability, more places to mount, and will not bent like m lok and key mod. Key mod rail is thicker then m lok and less likely to bend but attachment points are not a secure as m lok attachment points. Key mod is losing out to m lok in the rail war. M lok attachment points are less likely to slip as compared to key mod but the aluminum attachment points are very thin and make the rail very bendy. m lok seems to be winning the rail war and has more after market support. I will take the heaver more durable rail with the best mounting points over the other 2. Quad rail > Key mod> M lok. If the only thing mounted on the rail is a flash light and a bi pod then I would go m lok. If I'm mounting a aiming device like a laser on the rail then its quad all day and night long. View Quote |

Quad rails are great for experimenting with which configuration works best for YOU.

All my guns with quad rails work just fine. I know, it’s my funeral.

My main go to still rocks a RAS. Never felt any reason to change it but all builds in the last few years have gotten Geissele M-LOK goodness.
|
|
Except for one company no one makes replacement for the ones I have so they're not getting replaced anytime soon. They sure do tear up front sand bag rests even with the rail inserts.
|
|
My '07 era Mega monolithic has quad. Obviously there's no changing it
I certainly like Mlok or dickmod better. A thin extruded tube with material removed is far more weight effective than a thick extruded tube with material removed. |
|
I like my KAC RAS/RIS, FF RAS, URX IIs, 3.0s and DD RIS IIs.
Can't stand Dickmod and MLOK to me is, meh. |

Low profile thin ass keymod and mlok get way too hot if you actually shoot your rifle. I'm going to slap handguards on it anyway, might as well get a quad.

Quad rails are the most aesthetically pleasing rail system for sure. They just look bad ass, and mean.
M-Lok is here to stay, and rightfully so, but the quad rail to me, and people my age hit that same nostalgia spot that Triangle handguards, and CAR-15 stocks do for guys about 20 years older. |
|
I love when guys have quad rails and then put rail covers all over - including the top rail of the receiver.

Quad rails always just looked stupid to me. It was just a way to add five pounds of crap on a rifle that was meant to be light to carry.
I have a 7" Mlok on my 16" rifle. The only thing I have mounted to it is a flashlight. Seriously considering removing that rail to let a machinist buddy of mine mill/lighten it up some more. |
|
Quad rails are the most modular and tactical of all the rails.
