Obviously get both but which do you like better?

Rifles in "pistol configuration " are rifles for this discussion and vice versa.

I like 'em all but I'd rather shoot an AR than any other gun.

Since I can't really carry a rifle around on a daily basis, I guess I'm a pistol guy.

I'm a rifle guy.  Always and forever.

I'm embarrassed to admit I'm weak with pistols over 15-20 yards.

Pistol for EDC.

As much as I want to be a rifle/carbine guy I am a pistol guy.  I just enjoy shooting them and am overall faster and more accurate in things like IDPA/IPSC with pistols.  It probably has to do with familiarity and training volume with the pistol which far exceeds that of the rifle for me.

Being good with a pistol is very satisfying. Same as hitting a target at 1000m or more with a long gun. Being good with a carbine is another different version of satisfaction.

And shotguns are for breaching. Or bird hunting I suppose. But I never got into it.

Depends on the scenario. I strive to be highly proficient with all three.

That is incorrect. You need the gospel of the gauge.

I’m definitely a rifle guy but almost equal part pistol guy. I carry handguns daily and fondle my rifles in the evening in anticipation of the next range trip, class or competition. I perceived shotties as having more valid uses when I was younger. But they have since been realistically relegated to breaching/hunting categories. A rifle beats a shotgun for any offensive/defensive purposes.

I really have the most fun on a smooth pump action shotgun.  I have one old police surplus 870 that runs like a sewing machine, and running a class with it is just so damn much fun.

I’ve always liked rifles and shotguns more than pistols.

Right now my favorites are both pistol caliber carbines/SBRs.

I've always been pretty good with a pistol and it's what I've got the most awards for. I'm getting better with a rifle, in particular a fighting rifle, after having got some training on the system from some good folks. But if I had to choose, I love shotguns. Smacking birds, three gun, clays, watermelon destruction, it's all good stuff. I've gotten a bit rusty and want to get back to bring solidly between 'pretty good' and 'Fucking good'.

In the 90’s tier one guys used shotguns and sub guns.

Nowadays shotguns are breaching tools for those same folks.

For the rest of us, like Joe Biden, shotguns are legit tools.

Probably have more rifles than pistols.

But I shoot pistols a whole lot more than rifles.  Not much fun shooting to the max range of 100 yds. and then having the guys on the range that do more BSing than shooting and you have to keep asking them to go cold so you can go mark/replace your targets because they take hours to shoot 5 shots each and they take turns with only one guy firing while the other 3 or 4 stand around and BS even though their rifles are on benches.

I don't fight it anymore, I just go shoot the pistols and go home.

I have the most practice with shotguns from years of shooting clay targets and hunting with them(both birds and deer) but I've branched out to rifles and pistols.

ETA. I don't shoot rifles as much as pistols and shotguns because the place I shoot is better suited for shooting inside of 50yds and that gets boring pretty quick with a rifle.

I was late using shotguns.  I shot my uncle's bird guns,
my stepfather's 12 gauge, but I inherited my southpaw
grandfather's Ithaca late in life.

Scattergun all day, something about that 12 gauge 00 buck

But I carry a 1911 90% of the time, so I guess pistol. I'm good enough to get by with any of them though
