Any person with any self respect will leave and let the rich SJWs fund the Democrat's money laundering scheme to take taxpayer money, "reparate" it to the neighborhoods....and then the same politicians will go get "donations" that come from those funds.  The "Detroiting" of Asheville is almost complete.

Why do liberals always infest and destroy the nicest places?  The Asheville area is beautiful.  Just like California.

Because their lives revolve around their political goals, while at the same time they are still selfish and want nice things for themselves.

They justify their selfishness by pushing Leftist (guilt compensating) policies.  The more they are selfish and the nicer the things they have are, the more they push those policies.

Hence some of the nicest places and richest people are Leftist, because they have been turned into ideologues.

I am selfish, too... I like nice things, too..  but I don't feel guilty for having them.

And so I don't push the white guilt agenda.

Funny, not what I was expecting when I read “reparations”.
I’m sure a lot of people are pissed because when they say reparations, they want money or other free stuff.

Seems like the city is just calling the same old stuff by another name.

Were there any actual details or numbers of new money they plan to “invest” to full fill these “reparations”?

Not direct reparations but "community investments"

Newsflash idiots, liberal cities have been pumping dumptrucks of money into black communities for years and nothing ever changes. The people, the culture, the attitude need to change before those communities will ever change and improve.

Hence the " " around the word.  They are doubling down and going to jump up the funding to create political slush funds, using the cover of "fixing racism", and just drive the city further and faster into the shithole.

No numbers yet, at least that I have seen... but I am sure it will be on the backs of the businesses, tourists and homeowners to fund it, so the money can reach the political cronies and the politicians themselves.

Yea I’d like to go there as well.  We have been to the breweries In the black mountain area while visiting my family there, but that was only because they watched my kids. I’ve had at least one kid in diapers for the past 8+ years and no close family so it makes it hard to go and do anything. The youngest is two so soon she will be old enough to really go and do things.

Given the hardened liberals that I know,  this is an accurate  summary.

They can easily separate their private lives from their public persona.  The West End of Richmond was full of Lexus driving Karens with Bernie and local private school bumper stickers.

Around 15% of the population are black, the ironic thing is they push for neighborhood revitalization of the couple of low cost neighborhoods left in the city it will push those residents out.  A lot of these are investor owned properties.

That might technically be over the line in Fletcher.  It's close anyway, out by the airport and not close to downtown like others.

Family lives there.  I said I'd never live there, and wound up out in WA state instead

Soup sandwich is what it is.

Asheville is a good spot to hit a ton of breweries and try to find your way back to the hotel after way too many pints.

Sad the lubs gotta fuck it all up. Last few times we have gone the homeless have gotten worse.. not San Francisco or Portland bad, but noticable.

While this is not reparations, per se, the important thing here is the time-honored leftist tradition of introducing language and then moving towards their real goals.

They show that this is innocuous and not "really" reparations in the classic sense.  But they plant the seed of "reparation = OK".

The direct payments will come soon enough because the groundwork will have been laid.

Maybe a few years ago. Now, definitely miss it. They sold out to AB (or was it Miller? Same same) and quality sucks now. Which blows because the Funkatorium was awesome.

Asheville has always been libtarded but this is disappointing. I love the breweries there. Was planning a trip to Mars Hill next year. May stay out of the city now...

I am right in Morganton. We have been having a shit ton of backlash against our Confederate monument...and much of it has been orchestrated by one of the commie bar/wineries across the street. Sadly, Morganton is slowly sucking and becoming infested with leftists to a degree. I can say this as a lifelong resident. Ill move when my dad passes.

I knew that the NC BBQ and slaw weren't good for me.

I used to shoot GSSF Glock matches and got to know several Morganton and Asheville police officers.  Every year, they'd talk about how things had gotten worse since the year before.  And that was over five years ago.

I still have a house in AVL i use to work out of until retirement within a few months.
The city has been absolutely overran with young socialist and someone is telling them about all the free shit they will get when we are under the socialist system.
Free to low rent housing, green jobs that pay high wages, free child care, free college, universal basic income of at least 1K per month.
Its insane.
