So far the pup likes to jump, bite/nip, try to eat anything he finds, sniff every square inch of ground on walks and never settle down. But he still hasn't barked even when hearing other dogs bark. So I got that going for me. Which is nice. He turned 10 weeks today. It shall be a journey. I looked at pheasant/quail training aids today at Sportsmans Warehouse. I might give it a go. Wife is still adamant about no other pets. Kids are ready now. Wife is NO WHERE close to ready. SO we're holding off. |

I had to take the puppy out. He has sit down good. Now he's figuring out lay down. We practiced after he peed and he did well. View Quote I’m a bit peculiar in that I like to teach ‘stand’ as the first command, as in stand still and don’t move. When in doubt, I want that to be the default behavior they use. Sit comes after stand, and then down. Off is used throughout as well, but it’s a “stop doing that” signal instead of a “this is what I want you to do” command, so it’s usually followed by a command to let them know what I want them to do instead. |

I've thought about getting a second dog. Not sure how Em would react to not being an only dog anymore though. I watched my buddy's golden dingdong for a week and by the end I had to keep them separated View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It’s all about finding out what’s rewarding to them, and then using that as leverage. You control access to all that is good in the world, and he has to figure out how to obtain it. By doing what you want, he gets what he wants. Eventually, it can become a really fun game, and it makes him use his brain, which will fire him out much faster and better than physical exercise. It’s ridiculously tender, but it lacks much flavor and tends to taste like whatever you cooked it with. I give it a solid 3/10 and don’t cook it but once every 5 years or so. Mostly to remind myself why it is that I don’t cook it very often. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
