Puppy!
I used SD's advice on our morning walk. By the end he wasn't sniffing near as much and if I gave a gentle tug on the leash and said heel he'd stop and sit until prompted.

He got lots of treats.

Labs are very smart.
Or box of rocks retarded. There doesn’t seem to be much in between.

Boxers are excellent, but holy hell, the health issues. Malamutes are cute, but a very stubborn handful in a very large package.

My life isn't worth over $800.
IG likes are worth $400ish though.
If I ever even get my PC
You won't. But you can always duct tape it on.
Is there Gucci pattern duct tape?
Get OD or Ranger green
Not gucci
Foliage?

No, wait!

Woodland!!!!!
Kinda wish I special ordered a woodland Esstac now.
Seeing how much woodland I have, I should have gotten a PC in it as well.

But seeing as how it was a gift, I'll make due with multicam.

Done.
Did you get some, or did you stop being poor?
Didnt actually know they were a thing. I have Ti plates. Used to have soft armor but i traded that for a welder.
I knew you had the TI.  Didn't know if you had decided to upgrade or not.
Don't really see the need. Heavy plates are good for training.
True.

One day I'll pony up for some steel plates for training.

What type of doggie should we be looking for next?

Thinking maybe something that can double as a service dog for the boy with his seizures?

Not that he's had one in a long time, but it would be nice.

I know. Nearly adopted a slightly used boxer years ago. And a mal is probably a poor fit for me. But dammit thats a cute puppy.

Seizure alert dogs are something you sort of have to luck into. Either dogs pick up on seizures and it bugs them enough to alert to them, or they don’t.

As to what might be appropriate for you, i’m assuming that you aren’t going to want a lot of hair that would necessitate daily care or regular trips to the groomer. Also that something in the 35-70 lb range is the sweet spot. Energetic enough to keep up with you but not bouncing off walls. Good with kids and some degree of chaos/unpredictability, obviously.

I’d look at maybe Boykin Spaniels (if rescue, probably a reject hunting dog that was too laid back), collies (smooth over rough, but they’re a lot more rare), catahoulas, and cur dogs, black mouth cur preferable. There are some other, possibly better suited breeds out there, but they’re pretty rare and probably won’t be available as rescues. A Ridgeback would be a decent prospect if you wanted to go big. And i’m friends with a ridgeback breeder that would probably be willing to place a retiree (usually 4ish years old), but it wouldn’t be a rescue. It would just be one of her dogs getting its very own family.

What's the lifespan of a Ridgeback?

And how much does she normally charge for a retiree?

One day i decided to see what Em would do if i fell down and was unresponsive. The answer is sniff the back of my head and then stick her tongue in my ear

She might actually have the knack for seizures since she seemed pretty concerned.
