Palestinian sources expressed concern that Brig.-Gen. Esmail Qaani’s(Iran) promise to continue supporting Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad could undermine efforts to reach a new ceasefire with Israel.

It's the intensity and extent of the airstrikes combined with Israel literally saying "we're going beastmode, don't talk to us until next week"

They've hit major towers, think empire state building equivalents. I don't believe that was really done even in 2014 minus one or two exceptions. 2 nights ago they dropped 450 TONS of bombs in one hour plus 500 155mm arty shells. The IDF comment afterwards? " We can and expect to increase our sortie rate more than last night to extinguish the threat."

Alright what am I missing boys? I'm not trying to be dismissive here, but Iron Dome being used, Israel being rocketed, border issues, and Palestinians throwing rocks and molotovs seems fairly normal for Israel.

They deal with this all the time. I've been in a bunch of threads where we watch roof knocking and riots, iron dome and protests. Shit they were doing the balloons with gas into Israel a while ago.

What's different?

There is nothing in Gaza even remotely Empire State Building sized.

Their tallest structure is 20 floors, with nothing else exceeding 16.

Do you see that small skinny tower next to the ESB in the bottom right corner of the image?

That 50% taller than anything in Gaza.

Hamas is a “legitimate” elected government now.  Despite incredible sanctions and blockades, they are far better armed and organized than ever before.  They have uniforms, an open army, and hundreds of entrenched sites.  All within Gaza.

On top of that, they are emboldened by the Biden regime, and highly upset over Trumps deal.  They have lost support from Sudan and Egypt, as well as much of the arab world.

So, they are more powerful than ever,  know the US won’t intervene against them, and are running out of allies and resources locally.

how well known are any of the towers that got leveled? To be an ESB equivalent it would have to be well known by name and appearance across the globe. At a bare minimum regionally famous. There are no ESB equivalents in Gaza in terms or being iconic or well known either.

It’s ok to have said something silly, please don’t double down.

You're nit picking my statements and I'm not sure why. Those towers are land marks in the region. Not internationally, you got me there. Congrats.

The tallest tower in Gaza was roof knocked twice but not brought down yet. The Shorouk tower was tied for second in height and was taken apart with JDAMs. The Al Jalaa was a well known building in a prime area and went poof this morning.

AP and Al Jazeera are literally the propaganda arms of Hamas in Gaza. I'd guarantee that Hamas or one of their offspring had offices probably on the same floor as those "news" outfits, and almost certainly had a very close working relationship with them. They dutifully put Hamas' messaging out to the world, slanted exactly the way that Hamas wants the rest of the world to see it. They've done that for years.

Good targets.
