Depends.  The contractor is on the hook, for probably billions of dollars of destruction.

No way in FUCK the insurance company or the contractor is going to write checks if some Muzzy was involved and it was intentionally set.

If some mosque was burning somewhere, I am sure 90% of the replies would be genuine concern for the loss of historical artifacts and culture and definitely wouldn't be "I'll have a coke" or similar things, right?

Pot meet kettle.

Funny, I started a thread about the church attacks in Paris about a week ago, and I actually linked to it twice now because of other church attacks.

And, for the record, yes, I know I'm being "that guy", but it seems pretty relevant

There were 1045 recorded cases of church vandalsim in Paris last year

But I agree with those that are suspicious, theres good reason to be.

In 1996, the La Fenice Opera House in Venice burned down.  It was 200 years old.  The cause was arson, the fire was lit by disgruntled construction workers at about the same time of day--7pm.

if those are really recent then that gives some hope for the interior.

The ceiling you see when inside Notre Dame is stone.  Those shots show that most of the wood roof was caught by that stone and hasn't fallen all the way to ground level.

likely some holes in that stone work has allowed some to fall through... especially where the spire was... so there will be damage and I have no way of knowing how long that ceiling will last or how firefighting under it is going.

This photo actually provides some relief. The stone vaulting that makes up the ceiling of the cathedral has not collapsed, meaning it's possible most of the damage from the burning roof has not made its way into the actual church.

This is a photo of the top of a vault in Salisbury Cathedral, which was constructed around the time Notre Dame was with similar techniques. The piece of lumber you see in the top left of the photo is of a wood truss from the roof, the sloped structure taking up most of the photo is stone that makes up the interior vaulted ceiling.

Spokesman for Notre Dame has said everything inside is burning. Looking at that drone shot there is no way the fire is not inside every room.

Washington(CNN) The US military conducted an airstrike Sunday that killed Abdulhakim Dhuqub, a high ranking ISIS-Somalia official.

US Africa Command, which oversees US military operations on the continent, said in a statement Monday that the strike targeted a vehicle near Xiriiro, Bari Region.

The statement refers to Dhuqub as the terror affiliate's "second in command," saying he "was responsible for the daily operations of the extremist group, attack planning, and resource procurement."

Imagine the above picture is a Fox News livestream of Christchurch, and every single comment is happy and in support of what happened.

WE get lectures and finger waving from the ROP apologists, despite numerous churches being vandalized, set on fire, and attacked.

Condemnation and finger waving at Muslims for ANYTHING?    Nope.

I wonder how all of the stonework will handle the cooling off process? Uneven contraction, joint opening and moving. Not to mention what the fire already did to the stone.

The building was 95% dry tinder.  Once temps from the initial fire got high enough, it became a chain reaction with no hope of stopping it from spreading quickly to the entire structure.

The 16 copper statues which decorate the roof of the Notre-Dame de Paris are removed for restoration works.

A series of cranes evacuated the statues prior to the beginning of the restoration work at the beginning of last week.

The magnificent Emmanuel, Notre Dame's largest bourdon, is the only original bell in the cathedral not destroyed during the French Revolution

Notre Dame de Paris is home to the relic accepted by Catholics the world as the holy crown of thorns worn by Jesus Christ on the cross.
