I’d imagine cracked stones from the intense heat.
Mortar isn’t going to hold up to that heat either.
Walls will probably be highly unstable.
Wouldn’t be surprised one bit to hear they need to be brought down.
Hope I’m wrong.

That's 1000 year old lime mortar. Similar to what the romans used. But if coventry cathedral is a reference, it seems that the structure will survive.

I haven’t read this entire thread. If someone did it on purpose, yeah that’s pretty shitty. If it was an accident then it was an accident. The French people are willingly destroying their own culture through their importation of third-world migrants. The loss of a building is the least of their problems.
Are the American people willingly destroying our own culture through our importation of third-world migrants?

Bringing it down piece by piece would make it easier to reconstruct. They brought London Bridge to AZ and reconstructed it. Probably prolonged its life by centuries, maybe millennia.

Old world craftsmanship aside, a reconstructed building can incorporate a lot of new materials and tech, while appearing traditional to the untrained eye.

Every company in France would eagerly work on a restoration project. It's a matter of national pride (and pretty good advertising too)

The artwork is another matter. Let's hope the most precious were saved.

Some of course, like the windows, could not be

No - they were building a cathedral with skilled craftsmen that were told they should donate their labor, until the men said "no".

That is shocking to me as well unless they knew there was nothing that could be done unless they built something special purpose.

With the ceiling being stone short of hanging for supression out side of it or drilling through it not much could be figured out. Sometimes there’s laws minimizing the ability to alter historic structures

Currently seeing FFs on top of and in both towers doing inspections with no visible flames showing.  Fire around the scaffolding appears to be significantly knocked down as well.

Over 1000 church desecration's this past year alone. In France. World wide the Catholic Church and Christianity in general has been under attack. I don’t think the assumption that it was Muslim terrorism is unwarranted.

if those are really recent then that gives some hope for the interior.

The ceiling you see when inside Notre Dame is stone.  Those shots show that most of the wood roof was caught by that stone and hasn't fallen all the way to ground level.

likely some holes in that stone work has allowed some to fall through... especially where the spire was... so there will be damage and I have no way of knowing how long that ceiling will last or how firefighting under it is going.
I imagine the heat would be enough to make the interior combust even if the stone holds.
I haven't seen any fire or smoke coming from the ground level windows.  I'm not saying there isn't any...  just that the ground level hasn't been fully engulfed.  Those images show that most of the fire has been contained above the stone ceiling in the roof.  We can see  that stone ceiling mostly still intact having caught the burning roof and preventing it from falling on all the stuff inside.  I'd bet there have been punctures to the stone roof in places ... most likely where the spire fell...  so some damage will have occurred.  But I'm growing more hopeful that the damage will be less than a total lose.
