I enjoy the Metal Gear Sold series story arc.

It’s not so much an arc as a Spirograph...

But yes, it’s enjoyable.

The Blood and Wine DLC for the Witcher 3 is hands down my favorite.  Playing it through a second time now.  The art work is stunning, the story and side quests are great.  It is like a whole other game in itself.  Witcher 3 overall has the best story line and best art work, I love it.  CD Projekt Red is coming out with Cyberpunk, will see how that is, but hopefully another Witcher installment.  I know they said no more Geralt, hopefully someone else.

What I love about Witcher 3 is you can make different choices a second time through and get different results and outcomes.

Best story... Witcher 3 hands down. Thats the new benchmark IMO.

Other favorites.. The Borderlands games. 1, 2 and the pre-sequel tied in pretty nicely, the pre-sequel didn't have the sparkle that the fiorst or second did as far as me wanting to do a second playthrough, but it didn't leave a whole lot of holes. Whomever the bad guy is in Borderlands 3 has some serious shoes to fill to replace Handsome Jack. That guy was a son of a bitch, but the kind of son of a bitch that made you like him. Anybody that can buy their own pony made of diamonds that poops cool guns can't really be all bad.

Dying Light and the Following DLC  has a really good story and friggin AWESOME gameplay. Its DEFINITELY worth 2-3 play throughs because of all the cool weapon mods, the buggies in the following, and despite it being almost 3 years old, the graphics are still amazing.

I liked all 3 bioshock games, but it was stated earlier, they were a once and done. Pretty games, killer story, but they didn't get a 2nd play through.

Dead Island and Dead Island:Riptide were excellent games too, but there were a bunch in our Steam group that got both games when they first came out and played each of the 4 characters and leveled them to their cap. They're good games to co-op, single player is kinda meh.

What's this?
A video game story thread without Metro 2033 or last light being the #1 choices?
Not even the Redux versions?

These would be my choice for just pure atmosphere.  The gunplay is lacking but they are so worth it, especially if your PC has the horsepower to run them on max detail.

Story wise?  The Witcher series.  After playing the first two and becoming really attached to the characters, the third game did an amazing job of tying up loose ends.  PS> the third game only makes no sense if you are a worthless console scrub and haven't played the first two games.

ETA: I can't wait for Cyberpunk.

This is another good Witcher 3 video on the monsters and interactions of the player with them and other humans.
