Man on Fire isn't a revenge movie. The character's goal is to rescue the girl, not get revenge. So, it's not a revenge movie. Unless you're referring to the original one starring Scott Glenn, because I don't know much about that original Man on Fire movie. John Wick is a better revenge movie than Law Abiding Citizen. Law Abiding Citizen was a disappointment. The previews made it appear that Butler's character was seeking revenge against the murderers that murdered his wife and child and against the crooked Assistant District Attorney who made a deal to let them off. That was not what that movie was about. Just a man seeking vengeance on the murderers as well as those officers of the court that weren't corrupt as the previews seemed to indicate. A much, much better "revenge" movie was Bruce Lee in "The Big Boss." Lee's character, Cheng Chao-An, moves to a small town to work with his relatives at an ice factory. The owner is using the factory to smuggle drugs in the ice and murders his entire family when some of them discover the truth. Cheng Chao-An kills the owner's son and his hench men and later goes to his compound to kill the owner and the rest of his henchmen. He kills all of them. Now, that's a true revenge movie. Another good one was "Wanted: Dead or Alive." Bounty Hunter Rutger Hauer's character is targeted by terrorist Gene Simmon's character who murders his girlfriend and best friend. He goes all out to find him and kill him, taking out his terrorist associates along the way. Much better revenge movies than the ones that Op presented. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BZmMyMmIyY2MtOWU4Zi00Nzc4LWJkYTItNTFiZWJiOWZhNjVmXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMjM0ODM0NDk@._V1_.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7f/90/c1/7f90c1b6a6553ff4b5829faa9e24babb.jpg http://rarefilm.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Wanted-Dead-or-Alive-1987.jpg The scene at the end where he shoves the grenade in Simmon's mouth is a great climax. Especially after the FBI agent tells him that he will get a bonus for bringing him in alive, after he murdered his girlfriend and best friend. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c_e9hdlnBsA/UU8Huwmo_8I/AAAAAAAAmp0/M54-TmHF3Ys/s1600/WDOA+02.JPG View Quote |

The original I Spit on Your Grave.
I’m sure some edge lord will be along to tell me how it’s just some feminist bullshit or something. |

Law Abiding Citizen sucked balls. Just watched it last night.

Both are bad choices.
Revenge shouldn’t require riding it into the dirt. If I have to pick one, Man on Fire... Not the one with Denzel. Watch the ‘71 Michael Caine version of Get Carter. |

Is man on fire a revenge flick?
Iirc he’s just looking for the girl who is still alive and he trades himself for her at the end. lAC all the way should have blown them to hell and had a second movie |

Man on Fire was the better film.
Law Abiding Citizen had better revenge. Few scenes captured on film are as satisfying as when the judge answers her phone. |

Punisher comes to mind. Out of the poll, Man on Fire. LAC had a shitty ending. View Quote |

Nevada Smith, starting Steve McQueen. His character went to great lengths to avenge his family.

Man on Fire was absolutely a revenge film. When Creasy started out he believed Pita was dead and intended to kill everyone involved in her abduction. It didn’t become a rescue movie until he found out she was still alive at the very end.

I love revenge movies.
Out of those two I think man on fire is better. |

Sheesh you people are slipping.
The only correct answer is Heat. |

I thought the old revenge movie titled "Revenge" with Kevin Costner and Madeleine Stowe was pretty good.
Of course, it might be just because I always liked Madeleine Stowe. |

I preferred Man On Fire. Honorable mention to Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon.

Came here to post Payback, but I'll be damned is Shawshank Redemption doesn't fit the description as well. Andy sure does get revenge. I'll go with Shawshank

Man on Fire? I guess I don't even remember it, I saw it but don't remember it being a revenge movie. I sure as fuck won't forget LAC, so that gets my vote. |
