Count of Monte Cristo is a classic.

John Wick is the best modern in a while.

A History of Violence is another great pseudo-revenge movie

Both of the movies listed by the OP have ending issues that kill the movie.

Look up the alternate ending to Man on Fire

Creasy has an atomic butt plug that kills him and the boss.

On Youtube.

For those of you saying Man On Fire wasn’t a revenge flick really need to pay more attention.

Also I have never seen Count of Monte Cristo. Which version should I watch? I’m guessing most of you are talking about the 02 version because it’s the only one I can’t get free right now

Absolutely amazing movie.  It opened my eyes to the fact that American horror directors mostly suck.  That movie showed how it's supposed to be done.

Off topic - 'Train to Busan' is an outstanding Korean zombie flick.

But it wasn't.

He started out believing she was alive, killing people in the quest to find her.
Then he thought she was dead, and he killed people in the quest to find out who was responsible.
When he learned that it was Click To View Spoiler he didn't even do the deed himself.
Then, at the end, he sacrificed himself.

Of the options, Man On Fire

Honorable mentions: The Count of Monte Cristo, Payback, Death Wish and a straight-to-Netflix movie with Kevin Bacon that I'm drawing a blank on the name of. He's an everyday dude who goes after the guys that killed his son. My only gripe is they go way overboard on how they portray him not knowing anything about guns. I'm pretty sure an adult's seen enough people load a gun in movies, and on TV that they could figure it out in real life.

Death Sentence? I thought it was pretty good, I liked how he Kevin Bacon went all in on it. I have it on dvd somewhere, will have to dig it out and give it another watch.

LOL. Yeah that's a good one.

Went with Man On Fire. One of my top five favorites. Teared up the first time at the end, and I don't cry for movies. Last time was the little red dress in the wheelbarrow.  Creasy Bear FTW.

John Wick is up there too. Doesn't hit the feels the same way though. That one is all cheering.

ETA: I disagree on the alternate ending. Creasy was ready to die from the beginning. He no longer wanted to live with the memories of things he had done. Came to believe he would never achieve redemption, but found it when he returned Pita to her mother. His soul was at piece. It was beautiful. YMMV

He was still laid up in the “hospital” when Walken’s character told him she was dead.
That’s when he decides he’s well enough to do some killing.

I prefer the theatrical ending as well.
The way I understand it, that was the director’s planned ending but they filmed the alternate to humor Denzel.

Right.  But at that point he went on a hunt for the mastermind, not for revenge, but (IMHO) because he believed that Lupita was still alive (because of who stole the money.)

Him making a final heavy strike to the pieces of shot responsible seems more in character to me. Got nothing to lose at that point so why not.

Well if I can't vote for:

Death Wish

John Wick

Unforgiven

Once Upon a Time in the West

Outlaw Josey Wales

The Virgin Spring

Point Blank (old one)

Wrath Of Khan

The Crow

Count of Monte Cristo

Moby Dick

Memento

In the Bedroom

Princess Bride for the Six Fingered Man lulz

Revenge of the Nerds for more lulz

Then I guess Man on Fire was the less shitty "Revenge" film

Last House on the Left gets an honorable mention but that movie was too fucking disturbing for me
