That sounds like such overreach that it's doomed to fail. It almost sounds like he's just saying shit to appease his insane base.

Quoted: I wonder if Biden/Harris really think people are panic buying just to turn it all in. View Quote Some are. That is direct question that has been asked at the gun counter. "Can I return this if everything calms down or if Biden bans it if I don't shoot it?" "Why sure you can. I will happily pay you 25 to 30% less than you paid, IF it is legal for me to do so." |

Quoted: It's currently illegal for any Federal agency to keep a list of the firearms a person has. Biden would have to go through Congress for that View Quote FOPA exempts and allows the NFRTR (NFA registry) ......... A new category of weapons added to the NFA, and requiring registration would have to go thru congress..... a "reclassification" to an existing category? not so much..... |

Quoted: Would be nice if Republicans in GA would keep this from even being an issue. Go vote in the run off! So we can count on the NRA to fight this in courts right?
LOL, but seriously is it GOA or someone else? |

America is no longer the land of those who wish/yearn to be free of governmental intrusion and abuse. It is the land of those in the majority who are completely OK and welcome to government occupation and total control over their lives as long as their government cash cards keep being funded!! The majority no longer care for the ideals that drove our Founding Fathers, individualism, success, personal betterment, small government, FREEDOM!! I'm afraid to say that even if we had George Washington himself come back and lead us there wouldn't be any way to right this country once again!! |

Register the rifle and UP TO four magazines; $200 NFA tax on each.
Or, sell them to the government. ETA: I don't know if there's actually a limit of four magazines or if the news story I heard was just using four to round out the proposed tax to $1000 per gun owner... |
|
Given that if he finds himself in a position to actually promote such a thing it means we've already surrendered the country to leftist control by allowing an influence-peddling traitor to assume the Presidency through fraud and criminal conspiracy, gun registries and taxes won't be the biggest problem on our plate.
We need to win the battle at hand, not plan on how to pick up the pieces afterwards. |

Quoted: I have a lot of doubts about how they would be able to implement this if it was able to be passed into law and if it survived the many court challenges it would generate. The ATF struggles to process the number of NFA forms it's getting now and there's no way they could ramp up to process millions of stamps even if they had a few years. How are they going to find a feasible way to stamp magazines with no serial numbers as well? They'd also have to deal with mass non compliance in the form of civil disobedience and red states declaring themselves 2A sanctuaries too. I hate the idea of FJB's whole gun control plan but it seems like they are really swinging for the fences on this and hoping beyond hope, these people are professional liars and they lie to their own constituents and to the rest of us too.... View Quote Remember Canada's registration system? It will be inundated with fakes, just like Canada. |

Quoted: Any President that tries that and his party would lose big in 2022 & 24. View Quote Are you kidding the left will win more because there are no more elections. The country is toast as we knew it. The Left will just dictate through decree. In fact they will eventually eliminate the legislative and judicial branches since to the left they serve no real purpose. |

Don't be such a bunch of whiney twits. Let them bring it on.
I am itching for some buy back scheme. Just think how many assault guns you can build with home despot scraps. Bankrupt the country... Feds aint doing jack shit btw. |

Quoted: Any President that tries that and his party would lose big in 2022 & 24. View Quote Oh yeah right. We're going to stand by and watch him pull off the most blatant example of election fraud and political corruption in history in '20, then suddenly steel our resolve a couple years later because he tries to pass a few gun laws. The time to fight this is now. Not tomorrow, not next year, not 2022 or 2024. Now. |

This thread is interesting. In an unrelated thought, I wonder how much 1.5" inner diameter steel tubing they have at Home Depot? I might want to upgrade the plumbing in my house or something.

Quoted: It is one thing for me to hear others around my age (or younger) to say that they have no plan to comply with Biden's edicts concerning gun control. It is another thing entirely to hear people my parents' age (including my parents and my aunt) to say that they have no plan to comply with them. Anyone with half a brain ought to realize by now after what we have seen over the previous summer that the gov't has no plan to protect us from the criminals. And, the criminals have no plan to suddenly start obeying the law. It is going be up to us if we really want to protect our property and/or lives. View Quote The government will be weaponizing the criminals for their gain. The government isn't going to protect anyone from itself. |

Especially with all of that "valuable" information waiting to be gleaned. |

Quoted: Such an action would require a law passed by the Congress. If they don't take the Senate and then either have a filibuster proof majority or abolish the filibuster it will not pass. If it does pass into law it would have to be upheld by the Supreme Court, which it wouldn't be unless they pack the Court. That is pie in the sky #$%* for them and if they come right out of the gate with that they're going to use up a lot of political capital in a highly divisive fight during a highly partisan environment going into a midterm election that will be very difficult for them already. What you're looking at is the Biden Administration asking for the world in the hopes that the Republicans who have no backbone will compromise and be able to sell their constituents on accepting some "common sense" gun control measures. Pretty classic negotiation strategy, but it's not going to work. We can hold out until 2022 at which point we'll have the Senate for certain and most likely the House of Representatives back, which at that point there is just no chance an AWB of that like gets out of committee. View Quote Fairly well written. Good job. But you forget one thing. All it takes is an active shooter situation in the first couple months of his reign, and they will pass anything they want. Let no tragedy go to waste. |
|
Quoted: How long before this is settled before the scotus View Quote Two words: Common Use Fighting an AWB in the courts might have been tough back in the 90s, but today is a different story. The AR15 platform is inarguably in common use today as one of the most popular rifles in the country. Heller affirmed the common use standard, and with the current court I think it'll be a much heavier lift to do away with that. It all hinges upon the GA runoffs. If we fail to hold the senate, then the Dems could ram through not only the new AWB / registration scheme, but also pack the courts to nullify any challenges to it. |
