I want to watch it because I like movies based off comics. Ironman, X-Men, Wolverine, Superman, Batman, anything Marvel or DC I am going to watch. I grew up reading Superman/Justice League comics.

Liberals want to politicize it because the movie is apparently an all ‘African American’ cast.  And they relate the character ‘Black Panther’ to the radical black supremist group ‘The Black Panthers’. If they can find a way to divide people racially and kiss the butt of a black supremist group they are going to do it.

If the movie itself  get political one way or the other then I will skip it. If it focuses on just being a badass comic movie then it will be worth watching.

12 Years a Slave has 96% on Metacritic.  I guess it loses 4 points for the white people in the movie.

I wouldn't waste good money to watch it. Wait for it to hit Netflix or RedBox.

It's not generally a terrible movie, but the story line was amateur and almost made for TV Bad.

Possible minor spoilers ahead:

Wakanda is supposed to have been / still is (?) the Atlantis / City of Gold / Masters of Technology place for a very long time.

It even places a rogue Wakandan as trying to get Vibrainium to the 60's/70's Black Panthers Movement. (Bad, just bad). This the setup for the entire story line.

Now we have the depiction of Wakanda. It is 2018 and it is still tribal? I mean blocks of wood in ears and lips Africa tribal retarded.

They still walk around with Spears?

There really is no government, just an all powerful King (The Black Panther).

They settle disputes in Wakanda the same way they do in Africa today (fight till yield or death). Wow really advanced culture here.

It appears, like Chicago, the only think a Black Wakandan has to worry about is being killed by another Black Wakandan. Yeah, I know.

There is not a huge amount of action, most of what would be the epic fights happen out of costume with "The Power of the Black Panther" removed so the match is equal. So it's MMA with little Africa Shields and Spears. Yeah, I know.

The whole thing ends in a huge (and quite silly) Tribal War with Armored Rinos. Yeah, I know.

And to beat it all, the only white guy there ends up saving the Vibrainium from escaping.

So like I said, don't waste money on this unless it's like a dollar. Because even that is more than the movie is worth.

It could have been Epic, but overplayed SJW, African Culture themes are so overplayed and weaved into the script is just falls apart.

It's basically Space Ghost and Shaka Zulu had a baby movie, and it is a mentally challenged little bastard.

I saw it this morning. It was okay but not great and nowhere near as good a the reviews claim. It is pretty much like Wonder Woman in that regard.

Seen the movie Friday night with the fam.

I thought it had parts that were well done, but overall it was a snooze fest.    People will say it was good since many will spend money to go see it.

It sucked.

Eh, might be worth seeing it on dvd. dollar rental at the Redbox. Mostly for the special effects and the notion that an African country could become so prominent and technologically advanced by having a source piece of special metal, that despite being so super rare, only amounts to $9bil.

The more I think about it, West Virginia is probably the most severely underrepresented demographic in comics today. I'm waiting for Robert C. Byrd to be resurrected in a new Marvel series as a superhero named Grand Dragon.

Maybe make West Virginia the only known source of Coalbranium, with a secretly advanced society where Jim Justice rules over it as Coal Baron Extreme. The Greenbrier palace guards will wear techno-woven raccoon caps and buckskins, as befitting their noble Mountaineer heritage.

I am surprised black folk aren’t insulted by the damn thing.

Silly, fake “African accents.”
Synchronized shrugging.
Super city with dirt roads.
If it weren’t for vibrateyourrearium their country would be the Central African Kingdom of Goat Herders.

It is just another show where you have some super guy with a support staff of wise, black man, a computer nerd, and a girl friend.

I watched it and liked it.

Its funny because it does have an SJW/BLM vibe to it.  However, its an internal conflict.  So Michael B Jordan plays the "oppressed" and Chadwick Boseman plays the "Rich State Official".

They push the BLM/poor slave thing etc a bit, but they don't pull it off because its a nation of blacks oppressing the new, hip, outcast, SJW guy (Michael Jordan) and the Rich State Official ultimately wins.

Here is the plot in a nutshell.

Boseman is new king of extremely wealthy and technologically advanced nation.
Nation has never shared its wealth or secrets and watches as others in the world suffer
New guy shows up and wants to share the wealth and technology of the nation and show the world his power because he is oppressed, even though he was an Elite assassin his whole life.
Boseman and fam fights and fights to keep new guy from sharing wealth and tech
Boseman and fam come out on top and finally stop new guy from sharing tech and wealth
Boseman and fam changes mind and decides to share wealth and tech with world now even though they just literally fought a war and killed family trying to prevent it

It seems like they can't make movies just for entertainment anymore.  Everything has to promote an agenda.  Sometimes it's blatantly obvious, and sometimes it's more subtle, but there is almost always an agenda.

Finally?  I guess Michelle missed all of the other movies with black superheroes.  Blade, Falcon, Nick Fury, War Machine, Storm, and many others.  Then there’s all the ones that have been in comics for decades.

This is a real thing. #blackpantherchallenge

The Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer, who worked with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler five years ago on “Fruitvale Station,” took to social media two weeks ago to popularize the idea of giving back on the opening weekend of “Panther,” which features a mostly black cast.

“I will be in [Mississippi] when this movie opens,” Spencer wrote on Instagram. “I think I will buy out a theatre in an underserved community there to ensure that all our brown children can see themselves as a superhero.”

“Thanks to you, the #BlackPantherChallenge became the largest GoFundMe in history for an entertainment event.

Then you raised $300k, enough to buy tickets for over 23k children.

NOW...you’ve raised over $400k around the world, enough to send over 30k children to see the film”

Wow. What an amazing waste of money. They could have spent that 400k on water purification for Africa or books or something tangible, instead? Spending on tickets to go watch a movie.
