Spoiler alert#########

Saw it with a kid I work with. We both gave it a 6.5-7/10.

CGI was a little ridiculous. The Wakanda premise was very far fetched. The most advanced and fair minded civilization of all time has a monarchy chosen by mortal combat? Okay ...

Villain was given hard core victim status. Definitely a globalist message.

Otherwise it was fairly entertaining, but here's the odd thing:

When I went to buy tickets the whole theatre was sold out except a few random single seats, and the front row. We had to sit in the front.

I turned around a couple times during the movie and tbe theater was only half full. So tickets are being bought in blocks and just wasted to bolster ticket sales.

Imagine if part of the P & A budget (print & advertising) was to purchase tickets by proxy so opening weekend numbers would skyrocket.  Expensive but brilliant.

Wow. What an amazing waste of money. They could have spent that 400k on water purification for Africa or books or something tangible, instead? Spending on tickets to go watch a movie.

Yeah but the irony was that 40+ percent of the seats were empty, and from an estimate, I would say less then 20 percent of attendees were black.

Saw it.... my theory was correct. Wakanda is bad because they secure their borders and not liberate the oppressed peoples of color. They now have a change of heart and reveal to the world their true power.

So I have a question.... would Wakanda liberate the Jews and Poles from Nazi rule?

Anyways.... okay Marvel film and about on par with the rest.

Because democracy is wrong when suffrage is given to everyone.

I can have soooooo much fun deconstructing this film to prove my points that Socialism, Democracy, and Universal Suffrage are fool's errands.

“We know that for some it's a superhero world, but we know that the world we deserve is still waiting to be built — and we want to build it.”

Black voter registration effort launched at ‘Black Panther’ screenings.

An activist group has launched a voter registration effort aimed at black voters at screenings of the “Black Panther” movie nationwide.

Members of the Electoral Justice Project, an offshoot of the Movement for Black Lives, are seeking to motivate black voters and increase political engagement with the #WakandaTheVote campaign, the website Blavity reported.

Wakanda is the fictional African nation featured in the long-anticipated Marvel film “Black Panther.”

Kayla Reed, Jessica Byrd and Rukia Lumumba founded the Electoral Justice Project last year, and told Blavity that the movement has been effective “because we meet our communities where they are, whether that's in the streets, at the city council meeting, or in the movie theater.”

"This weekend we wanted to meet our people in Wakanda," Byrd and Reed told Blavity. “We know that for some it's a superhero world, but we know that the world we deserve is still waiting to be built — and we want to build it.”

The project’s website notes that volunteers will be wearing “Wakanda inspired outfits” to help moviegoers register to vote.

Byrd and Reed told Blavity that they plan to further their efforts ahead of the 2018 midterm elections by holding a campaign manager institute called the “Electoral Justice League,” and to have “thousands of conversations” with black voters about upcoming elections.

“We want to take every opportunity to engage our communities in the conversation of electoral justice,” they said.

If a political activist group hired a theater and presented free showings of 'Captain America' complete with voter registration booths in the lobby and outside the theater, and wanted to have "thousands of conversations" with white voters about the upcoming elections, would that be considered racist?

Saw black panther with grandchildren Friday night. I think the social media campaign is overhyping what I found to be a mediocre film with an obvious liberal propaganda overtone. There are some lines in this film that are uncomfortably racist by any standard but fear of politically correct backlash will prevent an honest assessment of the film. I regret taking my grandchildren. We teach them to be kind and respectful to everyone regardless of race and this movie in some parts conveys gratuitous anger. Superheroes should unite and be of high moral character. There was very little heroic going on in this movie or inspiring to young children who need examples

Not really. The protagonist aka Black Panther never had a confrontation with non black characters besides Claw and I don’t recall any racial animosity conveyed to Claw. He was willing to kill Claw in an extradicial manner in another country but that’s not unusual for comic book characters. I posted a Australian news review that alluded to the movie having a wealth redistribution message and I mentioned the anti Trump wall message but it doesn’t read like that was the primary issue the poster was addressing
