You took that as serious?

In fact, if you must know, I even talk to the local departments' SWAT teams about trauma/IFAK kits. When I first brought it up I was shocked by the lack of medical gear.

I'm ok with it.  Firemen used to wear rubber coats and boots.  Now they are covered head to toe in Nomex, and have a scary mask that makes uninformed kids scared because they sound like Darth Vader.

Education is key.  Teach your children that under all that gear, there resides a (98% of the time) man or woman who will sacrifice a lot to run towards something that everyone else is fleeing from.

I know last time I went into a house fire, I was damn glad I had my "kit" on me.

If a police officer employs deadly force to stop a threat I generally don't give a flying fuck if the bad-guy lives or dies. Part of what they do involves activities that can kill bad guys. You can parse it any old way you want but the fact is police officers may to have to employ deadly force at some point in the carer, and that deadly force can result in...well....death. When that time comes I want them to have the best gear and training possible. This stops the threat quicker, reduces the threat to innocent bystanders and could very likely save my life some day (god forbid).

If said bad guy dies so much the better. If said bad guy lives, patch him up and take him to trial/toss him in the clink. If said bad guy turns out to be a good-guy then the police officer has a whole lotta questions to answer and could face his own charges and trip to the slammer.

This all strikes me as common sense. YMMV.

Major troll thread with lots of fuck but I'll play.

When I started my career in 1992 the "old guys" then used to wish to return to the "old days".  Guys that had been around since they got back from Viet Nam. Guys with no education beyond HS wanting to go back to the "beat and release" days when you could "straighten out"  some Adam Henry who didn't know how to keep their mouth shut.  When there was no video or audio recording devices.  When shit heads in a car couldn't get on their cell phones and call their mommies or their homies when they got pulled over.  When many LE rolled with full auto Thompsons, M1 and M2 carbines, lever guns and 1911s.

Hell, I've personally listened to stories from guys retired from Chicago, Columbus, Gary, Cleveland and other places that if done today would result in charges.  Yeah, most LE would probably trade their AR, helmet. gloves and what ever to go back to no video, no audio, no cell phones, a Tommy gun, a 1911and lots of empty space to put the bodies.  The question is, would you?

Complain about cops all you want, when your kids school or your wifes place of work is getting shot up, there will be some JBT running in risking his life so you and yours can get together and smoke some weed this weekend.  And he will look however his admin lets him.

No LEO's charged with any crimes as a result of that, would it work the same way today?

The dude left the Texas Rangers and moved to Tampico, Mexico as a hired gun and ran protection from Pancho Villa on Payroll trains. He was a body guard for an oil tycoon as well then moved back to Marfa, Texas where he was in law Enforcement.

I love when pedantic people make a stink out of a minor point and then pretend they are very clever.

I think most adults in the room understand that part of what a cop does is employ deadly force, and that force could involve killing people. I suppose I was mistaken.
